Girl Genius Comic for Friday, February 05, 2021
Added 2021-02-05 01:45:32 +0000 UTCI've set BackerKit aside for a couple of days, in order to work a bit on Phil's old SF adventure, Buck Godot, Gallimaufry. Not getting it all set for print just yet, because that would take a LOT longer, but I'm getting it sorted out to put up on DriveThruComics as a PDF. I need to fulfill that promise I made for the Rain Games Kickstarter, and I want to get it done as quickly as I can.
I just finished getting Volume 20 of Girl Genius ready for the same thing, and except for the cover (and, Lord help me, the final editing pass), it's looking pretty good. I suspect Steve Jackson Games is likely to be doing a Kickstarter for Girl Genius GURPS sometime this year, and I don't want unfulfilled stuff like this hanging over our heads. It's a lot of work, but I'm feeling really good about it.
Once Gallimaufry is sorted out for PDF, it will actually be a lot easier to bring it to print from there. It certainly needs that editing pass, my does it ever, but just wrangling the files into a book-shaped document will be a big step. The other problem, of course, is that it's a HUGE volume by our standards, and will most likely cost a bunch. Add to that the fact that Buck, terrific though it is, was never a big seller for us, and we have what amounts to a vanity project. I still think it's worth doing, just for our own satisfaction, and hey, who knows, maybe it'll find a whole new audience once we get it published! Anyway, I find that I'm really excited to be working on it again, and I like working on something I'm excited about!
