Phil and I are getting our second COVID shots this Saturday. This makes me very happy. Phil wants to get a little bit ahead in case we feel low or sleepy afterward, so you'll probably be getting Wednesday's page pretty soon as well. I've heard that most people do pretty well after the second shot, though.
Finished House of Leaves, very cool but not actually scary. That's ok, though, it was good in a lot of other ways, and a lot of fun.

2021-05-13 09:58:18 +0000 UTCI have a punctuation issue to raise, namely about Krosp's «"other's"» (using French quotation marks because both kinds that we have in English are part of the text I'm quoting). This would be unexceptional if Krosp were quoting someone else who'd said «other's» but actually these are scare quotes, not quoting quotes, and so scare-quoting the apostrophe-s looks weird to me. I'm not sure I'd want to insist that what you have is ungrammatical, but I suggest that it's well past the time when anyone had to think or say scare quotes around "the other." (Time was when people like Gil used scare quotes that way, but not in a long while.) So I think the page would be improved by removing them.

I'm pretty sure I lost a couple of hours somewhere and I still don't know where. It was a good afternoon to be at home. Also, Krosp and Bang getting along so well scares me and delights me and makes me glad to be all the way over here.

2021-05-12 03:10:32 +0000 UTCI didn't have any significant side effects from either of my COVID vaccinations (Pfizer), so I can't say that this works from personal experience, but I've been told that if you hydrate well with Gatorade or some other electrolyte-containing beverage the day before your shot, the side effects are minimized. I don't put a huge amount of stock in the idea, myself, but it doesn't seem as if it could hurt, so I thought I'd pass the tip along.
