Greetings, everyone, as we launch boldly into another weekend full of madness and (I hope) fun!
I'm very pleased to announce that we are teaming up with Cheyenne Wright to bring you an October side story which we expect to begin on Monday! More on that a bit later.
Phil continues to improve. We've had quite a lot of messages and suggestions, enough that I am very VERY glad that we have Chris to help oversee our communications with the outside world. I'm bad enough at answering mail at the best of times, and I feel pretty guilty about it. Anyway, thank you to everyone who has written to wish Phil a speedy recovery! Your good wishes are very much appreciated. I want to assure everyone that we have very good medical professionals watching out for both of us and that Phil is doing all the things he should be, including taking his physical therapy seriously!
Speaking of things that make me quite rightfully feel guilty, I've been thinking a lot about how I will go about running Kickstarter campaigns in the future. The one I'm currently fulfilling has dragged on for various reasons, and I feel terrible about it. I hate feeling terrible.
So, I've decided that the next campaign that I run will only involve flat book things. This simplifies things, makes sure all the rewards that need to be shipped are ready at once, and allows me to offer all our backers book rate shipping. I'm also determined to have everything ready to go before launch, to avoid dragged-out design phases. Ugh. At the moment, it's looking like the next campaign will be for Volume 20, and also for Girl Genius: Nuts & Bolts. This latter is a collection of the extra stories we've done over the years, like the Revenge of the Weasel Queen and the Cinderella story. Tonight's art is actually the cover we're going to use for that, and I'll be adding it to the PDF version we have up on DriveThru soon. (I have a couple of other more pressing matters to see to first, though.)
I do love medals and patches and extras, so I'm planning a second, separate campaign for the year's merchandise. Again, this will give me the chance to plan all the designs out and have them ready to go before launch, and maybe let me do some fun things I haven't had time to do before. Keeping it separate from the books will solve a lot of my logistical problems so I'm really liking the idea. I have no idea how this will work out, maybe nobody will back a merch campaign, but it will be an experiment. I love experiments!
Aaand, that's all the news I've got today. I hope you like the art Phil and Cheyenne put together! Thanks, everyone!
