We have a neighborhood nearby that is apparently known all over the city for handing out exceptional Halloween loot. I never took my kids there for reasons (see footnote), so this is the first year I went for a walk in what turned out to be a small but energetic festival crowd. It was people-watching gold, and I want to put together some kind of walking parade float of a costume to stroll around in next year, just to add to the fun.
At home, I handed out Pocky as long as the supply lasted. We got more trick-or-treaters than usual and were caught a bit unprepared! Ordinarily we might get as many as ten people, usually less. They all go over to the fancy part of town and skip us plebs, which is too bad because I love the trick-or-treaters, even the teenagers in low-effort costumes. Maybe especially the teenagers, actually, because as an unusually tall preteen I got "Aren't you a little OLD for this" a few too many times and I'm still salty about it. Next year I'll stock up on more Pocky.
Footnote--We always went out into some of the smaller side streets closer to home, when we weren't at some convention or other.
