The Talos Principle: Is It Good?

Didn't I tell you I'd cover something different soon? I did, didn't I! And here it flipping is! My thoughts on The Talos Principle after about 4 hours. Sure, it isn't a super-in-depth-review-thing but to be honest it didn't grab me enough to invest a huge amount more time into it. Many others ruddy-bloody love it though, so be sure to read around before making any judgements! Matt x

The Talos Principle: Is It Good?

It sort of looks like an inconsistent mod if itself.

I would agree with you if the old facility had been the entire game. But there's no getting around that the first third/half is a unnecessary retread of the first game. It's like Toy Story 3, yes the incinerator moment when they all hold hands is sublime... But the rest is just Toy Story 2 but not as good. I wasn't trying to detract from your experience. It's great that you loved it. I just wanted to convey why I couldn't and reflecting on it made me a little sad.

Well, not really! I think Portal 2 is one of the best games ever made. So much humour, so much heart.

Your praise for Portal 2 made me feel kind of down. After reflecting opon it I feel like my biggest issue with P2 is that as a sequel it failed to live up to its substantially shorter precursor. I remember every moment of portal and how the experience affected me. But with P2? I remember the moon and a few other moments of spectacle. I remember almost nothing that happens before you get into the old facility and I think most people would think the same. It's almost like with Portal I remember the game and with Portal 2 I can only remember the highlights. SPACE! I know its rediculous to be disappointed with a good game that just isn't as good as the one that came before but I can't help it. And giving your feelings about Dark Souls 2 and Bioshock Infinite I think you can empathise.
