Beyond the Veil: Kiran's Supernatural Hun

Chapter 29: The Construction of the Incident

"Emily Cooper?" Kiran looked at the photograph in his hands, and that lively-faced girl seemed to be anything but someone who caused trouble.

Staring at the lake empty of people at his own request, Kiran contemplated the silent lake with ducks moving from one place to another.

He had assumed all this time that it was an evil spirit, but that wouldn't make sense because then he wouldn't be here trying to solve this case. The Light Association, which currently handles all problems with dark non-corporeal entities, wouldn't send him on this mission as a field agent physically investigating if it were a non-corporeal entity. Additionally, deeper investigations had been conducted on this lake to find out if it was a dark, non-corporeal entity through observation rituals and equipment to detect signals indicating something else, so it was impossible for something bad to be here causing harm to people.

"If it's not a dark, non-corporeal entity, it should be corporeal. Then that thing should be in the lake right now, so as a last resort, I'll have to investigate the lake." Kiran thought while checking the time, so before that, he decided to upload all this information to the cloud to have insurance in case he somehow got into trouble.

Dark entities were very mysterious, so knowing that he was a field agent, he needed to investigate all these things carefully before making a decision that involved the intervention or not of others.

Time nowadays is very valuable; no one could afford to waste time on unnecessary things, so an agent must be sure before calling for reinforcements. And much less could an agent waste the time of an entire squad just on mere speculations.

"Evidence; I must get evidence." Kiran made a somewhat risky decision, but it was his last chance before abandoning this case due to a lack of evidence. If this wasn't a dark entity that directly killed its victims and caused massacres, the Light Association and the S.G.C. wouldn't care about a victim who sees a harmless head. The deaths have been suicides; no deaths have been discovered that no human could commit, so this case would be dismissed if Kiran didn't find concise evidence today.

Kiran took out his cell phone and called support. "I'm Captain Kiran Jones, currently on an ongoing mission... My confirmation code is U27-IA00-UE28."

"Zz... What are your orders, Captain?"

Kiran looked at the lake for a few seconds and said, "I'm preparing for a deeper and riskier investigation; I'll need a support team on standby, so you should be there before midnight."

"Zz... Do you have the distress button with you?"

"I have it," said Kiran, looking at his watch, which was not really a watch.

"Zz... Understood, sir, good luck."

After hanging up the call, Kiran went directly to upload the information he had at hand for now and slowly waited for the hours to pass.

At nine in the evening, police officers patrolled the entire park to make sure there were no civilians before Kiran decided to start the deeper investigation as per the protocol.

Because it was dangerous, Kiran put on a very light bulletproof vest that would at least protect him more than wearing nothing, and later, he boarded a boat.

After starting the engine, Kiran entered the lake, not stopping until he was in the middle of this dark and silent place, so with only the help of a flashlight, he looked around after turning off the boat's engine.

"Good or evil? Emily Cooper, if you still remember this name, you should listen to me." Kiran looked around while holding his gun under his belt.

"You have been murdered in this place; according to old police records, your head was attempted to be cut off with a dull knife, and somehow your body was thrown into the lake with garbage bags to make you sink."

Kiran paused and continued, "You're not a spirit or a demon, so you must be a supernatural entity that started evolving after your death. It is said that your body disappeared, but that was hidden by the police; who would care about someone who has no family?"

Splash!

At that moment, the water in the lake stirred, and a few seconds later, everything stopped making noise, including the crickets. Kiran, who was in the middle of the boat, turned around, and there he saw a completely pale face. Unlike the explanations he had, that female face resembled that of a fish and had scales all over her face.

Kiran aimed his gun as soon as he saw that monster and said, "I'm sorry for being late, but you don't need to continue punishing those you think are guilty."

"Your scent!"

Pronouncing these words, Kiran widened his eyes when that monster in the water jumped with great momentum towards him, and without expecting any kind of embrace, he fired continuously.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of gunshots echoed throughout the lake and part of the park, alarming the police officers who had the task of only making sure civilians didn't enter the lake.

At that point, Kiran, who was being dragged, fell into the water, and when the bullets from his gun were emptied, he fell into a kind of illusion where his whole world turned black.

"What the hell?"
