Beyond the Veil: Kiran's Supernatural Hunt

Chapter 30: Everything Makes Sense

"Arghhhhh!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Kiran held onto that monster's neck that was dragging him somewhere in the lake, and shortly after, that cold sensation invaded him before he became completely unconscious.

"Hey, wake up!"

"Can you hear me? Wake up, hey!"

Kiran opened his eyes and looked at a quite attractive woman in front of his eyes in a blank space. "Are you that monster?"

"How cold and inconsiderate you are to a defenseless woman like me..."

"You attacked me."

"I was just revealing myself to you; your scent is quite unpleasant, and I lost consciousness for a moment. What kind of monster are you? You don't seem to be a vampire because they don't smell like anything, nor are you a werewolf because then you would have to smell like a wet dog."

Kiran frowned at the woman and asked, "Why did you attack those people and torment them?"

"Do you think they are innocent? The one who killed me was one of my first victims; that bastard ended up taking his own life after infecting him with a virus in his brain... Quite stupid; how can he endure so little? As for the other, dying in an accident must be more than bad luck."

Looking at the woman, who seemed to have a clear conscience, Kiran was not fooled by her human appearance and tried by all means to wake up from this illusion. "What about the man who was just walking with his daughter?"

"He wanted to drown his daughter in the lake; I could feel those thoughts as clearly as if he were about to do it. Bad people don't always seem to be bad, and those who are good are not always pleasant to others."

Kiran looked at this woman and asked, "Are you saying you are a good, dark entity?"

"I didn't say that; I am an evolved monster, and you, well, not you; the others are humans, so naturally, we will never be allies," the woman said. And as if realizing something, she muttered, "Well, my time is up... You did a good job; don't forget which side you're on and always help your own."

"What do you mean?" At the moment he wanted to get up, everything turned dark, and he appeared now on what seemed to be the top of a hill.

"It's cold..."

Just when that strange sensation invaded Kiran's body, he felt a bright presence to his right and turned his head. The only feeling Kiran had when seeing that man so simple but unattainable was one of absolute respect. Taking a deep breath of cold air, he stayed expectant of what that entity was about to do.

"You are someone very special..." The man in a gray suit walked towards the table where Kiran was sitting. "Even after your apparent change, you try to be the same."

When the man in the gray suit approached, Kiran could look at him more easily. a neat, clean, and emotionless expression. "A demon?"

The man in the gray suit showed a strange expression; his smile formed on his face as if he had expected that behavior from Kiran, but there was nothing more than that facial expression on his face.

"You're very curious... How about we make a deal as long as you kill a person for me?" After saying that, the man in gray approached Kiran, who was silent.

Kiran felt nervous; this was obviously a demon who was paying him a little visit. He remembered a while ago how he ended up killing a demon; that thing had an aura similar to that of this man, and the smell of burnt coal when you are close to one became more intense.

"I don't make deals with demons." Kiran refused immediately without bothering to consider anything. Seeing the man in the gray suit, he knew that strange feeling was the shroud of death covering him.

"You can just call me Oleg; I have as many names on this devastated planet as stars in the sky. You are someone very special for you to address me in that way in my presence," said the man in the gray suit, who introduced himself as Oleg.

"You have a tiny sense of your existence... For something like me, an existence like demons," Oleg looked at the people in the cafe and said, "There are many problems on this small planet, many beings who consider themselves lords of life. This world is very small in a declining solar system."

Kiran remained silent; he knew this was a dream, so he was about to wake up soon as he saw the surroundings deteriorate.

Oleg looked at Kiran and said with a smile as his pupils turned red, "The human world as you know it is going to fall into hell. Those who believe in God will be abandoned by their creator, and then the era of darkness will come for us."

"Still, I have to refuse; we are enemies, so if you don't leave me alone, I'll have to kill you." Kiran didn't know how, but with dignity, he wanted to have control over his emotions.

Oleg nodded, walked a few steps into the distance, and muttered, "Remember this choice you have made very well; don't cry when someone close to you is about to die."

...

"Over here, quickly!"

Kiran opened his eyes and found himself standing on the edge of the lake. "How is that?"

"Sir, how are you feeling?" A group of agents approached holding high-powered weapons, but they stopped when they saw that the monster had been killed by Kiran, who was soaked in water.

Kiran, who was confused, looked at the monster's corpse and, remembering its words, sighed bitterly. "Check this lake thoroughly for more demons; eliminate anything moving near us."

"Understood, Captain!"
