Attibute Panel: Evolution from an Artic Wolf

6 - Luke's Wish

A wolf pack is extremely loyal, unlike the non-existence of an alpha leading a pack, normally and this was from Luke's own experience the pack is led by a strong pair of wolves.

In this case, the pair of wolves leading the pack were their own parents, so they made the decisions and guided the pack. There was no such thing as an alpha, at least that's what Luke sensed, but even if so the leader that could not be disputed was their father.

The cubs being full, Luke's mother wolf ate half of the rabbit he had hunted, but even the smallest rabbit weighed about three to two kilos.

This made the stomach that hadn't had enough food for several days finally fill up a bit.

Although the mother wolf really wanted to eat the remaining half of the arctic rabbit, she still held back.

In a corner where no other wolf could see, she secretly released it for her children to eat.

"Auu!"

Luke's mother wolf looked at her children and hinted for them to eat the rabbit.

"We're really full..."

Luke, who was always at his playful sister's side, looked at the half-rabbit handed over by his mother wolf, and a strange session welled up from deep in his heart.

Unexpectedly, being a wolf he could feel the warmth of a mother. When he saw that she did not finish her meal, a desire not to feel hungry flared up deep inside him.

He did not expect that maternal love and familial affection among animals are also so touching.

As a human, in his previous life he did not care about food or clothing, for the next day there would be food and the bonding between people was very little to the point of not feeling this sense of unity.

Luke struggled from a very young age, faced a hard life as many others have and never had time to feel such a strong connection with his loved ones.

In this new life, even though he was reborn as an arctic wolf, after feeling the connection and unity of a pack, he really felt that his parents cared about him.

Especially his wolf mother and wolf father who went crazy when they smelled the blood coming from the cave, which really impressed Luke.

"I'm full mother!"

Wanting to say these words loud and clear, he looked at his mother wolf who stubbornly left the food and felt sad.

But there was something stronger than her sadness, something that grew stronger with every breath she took. In her eyes, a desire to evolve was reflected.

His first goals are to live a peaceful life, and to let his parents not exhaust themselves in search of food.

He wants to become the undisputed king of the entire arctic, the wolf king who will be above the entire food chain of this place.

With that vision for the future, Luke lay down next to his mother wolf, ready to sleep and regain his stats completely, with the goal of hunting tomorrow.

...

The next day.

After a deep sleep, Luke opened his eyes only to discover that his parents were not in the cave, as for the other adult wolves in the pack they were also missing.

It could be known that they all left early in search of food again.

Unable to do anything in a short time, Luke stretched and got up still in his drowsy state.

When he woke up, he saw that the wolf sister, the wolf girl who stays to take care of the cubs were still sound asleep.

The young mammals lived up to their reputation for lethargy.

Luke moved without making a sound and looked at the landscape outside the cave, all the surroundings were covered in snow.

He estimated that it might be ten o'clock in the morning, but without a clock that could define the actual time, Luke couldn't be sure either due to the low light in the sky.

Winter and night here are longer than anywhere else, and even at some point, there would be a phenomenon known as the Polar night.

"Rrr!"

Facing the vast, boundless North Pole, Luke let out a small grunt. He didn't want to make noise, let alone howl, this might scare off his smaller prey or alert more lethal predators.

He knew he would be living in this place for a long time in the future.

After seeing the surroundings, Luke felt a little hungry again.

Now fully adapted to being an arctic wolf, and also fully adapted to fur and blood in his food, Luke was hungry.

It was known that the taste pupils of humans are different from that of animals, for this reason it doesn't matter if a dog eats the same thing as a human, they will both enjoy that food differently.

And perhaps the taste buds on the Arctic wolf's tongue are vastly different from those of humans. Eating the meat raw and still enjoying it as if it were prepared.

"Do I focus again on looking for hares?"

"It may be a fair goal, but now eating arctic rabbits is insignificant beyond filling the stomach, so the evolutionary value would be wasted."

After thinking for a while, Luke decided to go for a walk.

If there is no other prey of higher value, you can only hunt a few more arctic hares.

But seeing the pack's plight, it would be a surprise to find hares again.

...

In the thick snow, Luke walked step by step.

Wolves, like any other animal, have a keen sense of smell.

Soon, without going far, he smelled a scent of blood in the air.

"Huh? There's something nearby!" Luke immediately stewed on this important discovery.

He lay face down in the snow and walked a little in the direction of the smell of blood.

He was quick, but cautious.

After all, his current strength was still very weak.

Being careful in these kinds of risky choices can give him days of extra life, and it is always smart people to be cautious, well in this case wolves.

After moving slowly for about ten minutes, he finally arrived at the direction where the smell of blood was coming from.

The smell of blood was very strong.

It looks like a hunt took place in this place not too long ago, or maybe it was a fight.

If Luke is delayed, he knows that such an intense smell of blood would definitely have attracted many carnivorous animals, making this place extremely dangerous.

At this point, Luke stopped, hid behind a lush bush and looked into the distance.

Soon, the source of the smell of blood was clearly seen.

It was the carcass of an arctic reindeer!

"[... Species: Arctic Reindeer (Male, dead)

Level: 7

Esper Energy: 1093

Endurance: 76

Strength: 58

Defense: 65

Speed: 62...]

...

This arctic reindeer is level 7, much higher than the father wolf level.

If this kingdom was a prey, all the wolves in the pack would have to mobilize to hunt and successfully kill this animal.

But now, a male arctic reindeer with a level up to level 7 was killed directly in this way.

To the naked eye, there is no trace of bite on the carcass of this Reindeer.

Only the bright red blood flowing from the neck and some of its limbs.

The blood had not completely clotted and it looked like it had just died a few minutes ago.

"Huh, what animal could kill a male arctic reindeer so easily? Could it be a polar bear? No, but if it was that way there would be a much bloodier scene."

Luke hid behind the bushes, thinking what could have caused such a shocking scene.

There is no trace of the predator and if there is something that can so easily kill such a large animal and eat it, this scene is not normal at all.

If there is an animal powerful enough to kill a reindeer all by itself, it must be a bear. But even after looking around for a few seconds, Luke discovered that there were no traces of bears here either.

Besides, if he was killed by a polar bear, the body would not be left on the ground like garbage.

At this point, Luke was very confused.

After repeatedly confirming that the surrounding environment was very safe, he cautiously walked toward the reindeer carcass.

The carcass of this arctic reindeer was huge, weighing between 160 to 180 kilograms, even if he wanted to he couldn't finish a meal of this size.

"Huh?"

After careful observation, he soon discovered that the reindeer carcass was a bit strange.

The antlers were missing, as if they had been cut off with a knife.

The wound was very clean and it was absolutely impossible for an animal to bite it.

"Hunters?"

Antlers on reindeer exist in their different variants, they all have those huge antlers on their heads and these have been beautiful trophies for hunters.

It is no surprise to see the head of a real reindeer on a hunter's wall, even these sell for very exorbitant prices.

Looking at the fatal wound on the reindeer's neck, it turned out to be a deep hole where blood was still draining.

From his human perspective, such wounds were definitely caused by gunpowder weapons.

This reindeer was killed by a human.

"How could this possibly happen here?" seeing that, Luke froze. Hunting in a place like this must be very complicated, especially since they are extremely cold areas, thus requiring similar systems and procedures.

It seems that the North Pole is not as safe as he imagines.

Not only he is constantly at risk of food shortages, but also these rare hunters!

At this moment, a crisis came into Luke's mind instantly.

He must accelerate the pace of evolution.

This place is complicated, even now humans would find it impossible to move with such a large Reindeer, so after accomplishing their goals they left the corpse to its fate.

Luke without losing lowered his head and began to eat the corpse of the Arctic reindeer.

The reindeer had just died not long ago, and the body had not yet hardened completely.

He tore off a piece of meat from the tender chest and began to eat.

"[3 evolution points gained for eating Arctic Reindeer!"]

After eating the first bite, Luke's eyes were surprised.

3 evolution points!

Indeed, this is the meat of an arctic reindeer and something Luke had never tasted before. He still didn't understand the points exactly and what made them more valuable over others, but this wasn't important when the commodity was simply eating and evolving.
