Attibute Panel: Evolution from an Artic Wolf

11 - A growing obsession

The joy of seeing that everyone was well was inexplicable, and it was reassuring to know that the entire pack had been reunited. 

A pack of eight adult wolves walked in a line, Luke's father was in the center of the pack and his mother was in front. The distribution of a pack is very special so that both the strongest wolf reacts to an enemy ambush and the guide who in this case in Luke's mother leads the pack towards prey. 

Her pace was steady, so her safety was very high. To tell the truth, Luke didn't know if there was anything that could cause them harm in this place. 

As they got closer, all the wolves were inspected by Luke's eyes and he found that they had no wounds on their bodies, and what surprised him was that two moose and several adult rabbits were being dragged by the wolves' mouths.

Today it can be said that the herd hunt went excellent this time. 

The snow storm blocked the advance of the pack when they were returning home, what could have happened is that with the prey in their mouths the advance was not much and they had to look for a suitable place to protect themselves from the storm these last days. 

Wolves are very intelligent, their distribution and movement are equal or superior to a human army. The roles to be played are essential and are distributed according to the needs required in a pack. By the time the pups join the hunt, the pack's numbers will increase and they will truly be a group to be feared. 

To tell the truth, Luke didn't know if the adult wolves were worried that something had happened to them. What would have happened to the pups if he didn't bring food back to the cave? Not only did the rabbits serve as food for them, but if they hadn't, it was very likely that no wolf pups would have survived. 

But when Luke saw the quick pace of the pack, he knew they did their best to get back. 

Especially their mother wolf, even though she was smart and knew that staying safe would ensure the well-being of her pups, still wanted to see her children in a hurry and check on them.

"Auu!" 

As soon as his mother returned, Luke greeted her at the cave entrance. 

When Luke's mother got to where her son was, she licked him lovingly. 

And seeing that Luke's body size had grown once again and was almost no different from a full-grown wolf, she was equally very happy. 

Then, after checking that he had no wounds, Luke's mother threw him the carcass of a moose. 

Luke let out a low howl, indicating that this cub with the softest meat should be left in the mouths of the smallest wolves.

When his mother understood, she licked Luke again and wagged the moose toward the puppies who wagged their tails from joy. 

This action was a bit uncomfortable for Luke, and although he resisted this type of maternal intimacy, his mother showed him the affection that a puppy should receive.

The wolf girl, her sister and the little gray wolf followed close behind them evidently happy for their return.

After the mother wolf tore off a moose calf to pieces, she tossed the meat to the wolf cubs to eat. 

The little gray wolf who was about to eat something suddenly thought of something. His eyes darted to Luke, and he only began to eat as long as Luke would let him. 

"Is he used to that already?" thought Luke as he saw this kind of action, ever since he had brought the food lately, that had been happening. 

His mother had noticed it, but she didn't mind this kind of behavior. 

After all, the strong are respected, it is normal for a group of cubs in the pack to listen to Luke. 

When she observed Luke's size again, she knew that her body size compared to her son's was no longer inferior, so Luke's mother felt that her little son had grown very fast. 

Minutes later, his wolf father and the other members of the pack returned to the cave one after the other.

Everyone's delay was due to the snowstorm and it took them a long time to return, they had all been worried about finding out what would happen to their cubs. 　　 

Now that they saw all the cubs healthy and very energetic, everyone was relieved. 

Nature in this type of environment is unforgiving, and chances are that if it weren't for Luke, these cubs would have died. But that's not something that could have been analyzed by the wolves in the pack, because even though they are smart that's too much. 

After the pups' fathers and mothers controlled their offspring, they threw the food on the ground. 　 

As for how the pups spent these last few days, this is unheard of for the wolves, but unforgettable for the pups. 

After the father wolf and mother wolf returned, the originally empty cave became lively again. 

Some take care of the cubs and others serve as guards at the cave entrance where Luke used to lie down. 

As for the girl who was in charge of taking care of all the pups, she began to be trained so that she started to learn how to hunt and hide. 

Like the father wolf, the father wolf came out of the cave and began to patrol the surroundings, although in truth he would come out to mark his scent around the cave. 

Wolf packs mark a territory that is not violated by other packs, when food becomes scarce the packs make longer runs to increase their hunting territory. However, if one pack encroaches on another pack's territory to hunt, that is when conflict will arise. 

Luke's mother looked at her son and motioned for him to come and eat. 

Seeing the invitation, Luke let out a small yelp with his mouth and walked over to the elk carcass next to Baxter. 

As soon as Luke saw the adult moose on the ground, the attribute panel jumped into his gaze, indicating general information to him.

These statistics shown by the moose are very large, even superior to the Arctic reindeer.

This meat is much more delicious than the dried meat of the lynx. 

As time passed, Luke became afraid that his actions would affect him in some way, so he drifted from eating when he thought it was enough.

Luke's appetite was big, but he knew how to measure himself so as not to waste food and save it for another day. 

But the best part of it all was that the meat from this moose provided Luke with a little over 50 evolutionary points.

And after Luke devoured a lot of elk meat, he also gained 20 evolution points. 

He's only a few evolutionary points away before he can advance in overall level again. 

This made Luke unable to contain his desire to go hunting. 

But every time he made a slight movement, his father growled at him twice and he helplessly backed away with his tail between his legs. 

Although Father Wolf's actions were loving, Luke couldn't help but overcome with sadness.
