13 - Two wolves and one destiny

Luke, since being reborn as a wolf, had lived in this type of environment for two months. 

As a human inexperienced in the subject of arctic wildlife he slowly learned and gradually gained a general understanding of wolf packs. 

One example would be that between wolf packs there were borders, without crossing each other even once as it was not necessary for the wolves to maintain their borders and respect them. The way the packs marked their borders was by scent, and there was no such thing as battles between wolf packs. 　
　　
Also, there wasn't exactly an alpha wolf, as I knew from before a strong wolf pair leads wolves who don't really fight for a leadership position. 

But if somehow one of the wolves resists the orders of the wolf pair, they either forcefully refuse or leave the pack. 

At this time, Luke had only wanted to look around, but his parents didn't understand what he wanted to do. He was a human inside a wolf, he wanted to feel the cold breeze and not shut himself in a cave where all he could do was sleep. 

With his current strength, Luke had a good chance of defeating his father and disobeying his orders, but that was something he would never do. 

There were many reasons, but the main one was because as a strong pillar of the pack, his father needs to be someone strong who inspires confidence that very few wolves can give. 

If he fights with his father and defeats him, it is possible that he will lose the authority to lead the pack and eventually Luke with his inexperience will end up being a bad leader. 
　　
In the pack, other than his parents, sister and the wolf girl, the other wolves do not have a strong sense of relationship with Luke, of course this does not include Baxter who was Luke's first subordinate. 

This made Luke, since the weather was good, want to go out and see the surroundings while his father slept.　 

Waiting for the moment, Luke again lay down on a rock and began to close his eyes and think quietly. 

Baxter as his faithful follower lay very close to him and even followed him to sleep. If Luke had not stopped him, he possibly even planned to accompany him even when he relieved himself. 　
　　
But a noteworthy thing to mention is that today's Baxter has become a loyal companion to Luke. 　　 

On the other hand, his clingy sister who had grown accustomed to sleeping next to him even copied the way he slept and lay between her mother's arms. 　　 

But Luke could swear that for her sleeping in his mother's arms was much more comfortable. 

... 

The dull time passed very slowly and soon evening came. 

To save energy, his wolf father and the others also fell asleep on their stomachs. 

It was then that Luke's long tail wagged from side to side and after checking that there was no movement in his surroundings he got up and silently walked towards the cave entrance. 

Today he had completely adapted to arctic ice and snow. 

The time had come when he planned to go out alone. 

But when he finally breathed fresh, cold air, he felt a small figure on his sword following in his footsteps and turned his stiff head. 

He had doubted a little who it was, but when he turned his head he discovered that Baxter was also following him. 
　　
Baxter's basic attributes were about to reach level 3. 

So, thinking of something, Luke didn't force him to go back. First of all if he did it was possible that he would wake up the other wolves, and on the other hand he needed this little guy to adapt faster to life outside the cave if he planned to follow him in the future. 　　 

"Ow!" 

With a very low howl, the two soon moved away from the cave. 

Today although it was a nice day, it was a bit breezier than normal but this didn't endanger Luke as long as he keeps his stats in check along with those of his companion. 

This is also the reason why his wolf father didn't go out hunting. 

But even so Luke knows he is different, he had no plans to delay his evolution and knew that with his chances he could get out of almost any problem he may face. 

He is smarter and more observant than ordinary wolves, plus he had to look for a food source that would provide him with evolutionary points to get to the next level.

He was very passionate about continuing to evolve, but he knew that if the danger was greater than the gains he would not make a mistake. After all, if he wants to evolve for anything, it is because he doesn't want to be in danger, so it would be very stupid of him to endanger what he wants to protect. 

Before long, under his intelligent eyes he found an arctic rabbit warren. 　　
Arctic hares are relatively common in the Arctic, they feed on moss, plants and tree roots and have a great capacity for survival but are also prime targets for predators who don't want to expend a lot of energy. 

Now, considering Luke's speed it is very easy to hunt a free arctic. 

But he didn't waste his time with rabbits, currently the evolutionary value of those prey was very small and there was no lack of food in the cave either, so he wasn't interested in those easy to hunt prey. 　 

Unless he was very hungry and could not find food, animals that did not grant him good benefits or were a large amount of food that he could not ignore, he did not pay attention to them. 

Otherwise Luke would have wiped out every living thing. It is a pity that the value limits his evolutionary panel. But there was someone who did not understand what Luke was thinking, so Baxter, being confused, howled and asked him to be guided. 

Luke also thought this was feasible so he stopped looking for prey and concentrated on Baxter's training. Blindly seeking self gain would get him nowhere, as long as his pack was strong, the food would eventually come. 

It was then that Luke returned to the arctic rabbit warren and guided Baxter to get ready. 

Baxter then happily ran into the rabbit hole. In the wolf packs there was no one with much wisdom to teach hunting skills to inexperienced wolves, and neither could Luke be very detailed with his explanation, so it's just a matter of Baxter exploiting his animal instincts. 

The speed of the arctic hare is very fast. 

Hearing is also very sensitive. 

Before Baxter approached the burrow, all the rabbits managed to notice him. 

And in a few breaths, all the rabbits panicked. 

That speed at which the arctic rabbits came out left Baxter with no chance to do anything.
　　
"Auuu!" 

This result made him feel very angry, so Baxter to vent his anger became aggressive.
　　
Luke seeing this result could only feel a little amused, this little follower must suffer and then learn from him to make him feel grateful. 

Kap! 

Luke as soon as he approached Baxter, hit his head to stop him from howling and shooing away the prey in the vicinity. 

This is also a small punishment due to Baxter's failed hunt. 　 

But he knew it was impossible for him to have a good result at first, so Luke began to teach him what it meant to move quietly and hide his body with the snow on the ground. 

Baxter was studying very seriously everything Luke was doing and began to practice repeatedly in bushes and grass. 

As Luke led the way to a less hectic place, he was also searching for prey. 

But as they searched elsewhere, the prey had completely disappeared. Suddenly, the sixth sense of danger sent a big shiver through Luke's fur. 

Luke knew what this kind of feeling meant, he had felt it when he found that reindeer killed by hunters, so he wasted no time in biting Baxter's fur and dragging him into one of the bushes, the strength of his paws making it impossible for Baxter to move.
　　
The two of them soon managed to successfully hide in a bush large enough to conceal their bodies. 　　 

Luke's pair of crimson eyes looked into the distance. 　 

Though minutes would pass, Luke knew she wasn't wrong and sure enough a few seconds later something appeared.

Among the trees in the distance, a grizzly bear of terrifying size walks nonchalantly out of the trees. 　 

You can see that this grizzly bear is probably looking for food here. 

The grizzly bear plucked some small grains of fruit from the bushes and chewed them slowly. 

Grizzly bears will eat anything. 

Plant roots, fruits, fodder, grains, as well as animals, insects, fish and even carrion can be their food. 

And the Arctic wolf can naturally become their food, a great food that can satisfy them. 

The present arctic is poor in food, and this grizzly bear can do anything for food which puts Luke into a lot of trouble.

The grizzly bear's attribute value appeared in front of Luke as soon as it entered his field of vision. 

These basic attributes are very scary. 

With Luke's basic attributes, the only thing he can do is run away. 

But if he does so now, Baxter would have no chance to escape.  

No matter how big the bear is or how slow he walks, his speed is even faster than Luke's. And if he really set his mind to it, his stamina is terrifying and he could catch up to him in a contest of attrition. 

Therefore, not wanting to make use of his ability to increase his speed and get out of this place, he pressed Baxter against the ground, preventing him from making any kind of mistake that would put them in danger. 　　

Any slightest movement would cause the grizzly bear to chase them to the ends of the earth. 

Since Luke wanted to save Baxter, there was nothing to do but wait for the bear to leave this place. 

Fortunately, the grizzly didn't even notice that the two wolves were not far from their position. 

All the time that bear was busy eating the fruit and tender leaves from the bush. 

After eating in some nearby bushes, he slowly walked away. 

Seeing the grizzly leave, Luke was relieved and let Baxter go. But the surprising thing was that Baxter had been without moving the whole time.

After he was released, he gratefully licked Luke's paw for being so smart and observant.

However, Luke hit Baxter's head again with his paw. 

He doesn't like being licked by wolves. 

However, meeting this grizzly bear by chance today also made Luke's desire to improve and evolve stronger.  

One day in the future, he will eventually become the strongest hunter on this Arctic continent, with no one being able to stand up to him! 

Even big lords like grizzly bears and polar bears will appear in his vegetarian recipes. 

"Rrrr!" 

Luke let out a growl as indomitable determination flashed in his eyes. 

Although there is a shortage of food on the Arctic continent, there are still many discoveries to be found if you look hard enough. 

Along the way, Luke and Baxter came across a herd of moose, which was strong and impossible to attack. 

There are also two male elk with sharp antlers and attributes so high that Luke could only pass from a distance without daring to disturb them. 

Then, in the distance Luke met two silver foxes, but those foxes were very cautious and as soon as they saw him they ran without leaving him a chance to do anything. 

Finally the afternoon was coming to an end. 

Under Luke and Baxter's tireless search efforts, a single female ox appeared in front of them. 

This female ox must still be juvenile, Luke came to this conclusion because of her slender body and not so tall height. 

The long dark hair hangs over the body and the horns on the head are spaced apart in a very intimidating manner. 

The pupils in the ox's eyes are brown in color, which gives it a very common appearance.

Luke let out a long sigh and slowly revealed his sharp wolf teeth, and his eyes also flashed with the unique ferocity of predators. 

He still had a skill that would serve him well in successfully hunting his prey, he didn't plan on losing and right now he was more animated than ever as he visualized the king of his world, a mighty grizzly bear that made his goals very clear to him, to continue to evolve.
