37 - Deep sleep
Luke left the cave without any rush, climbed to the top of the mountain where his cave was, and with his eyes slightly closed due to the strong wind, he felt that cold current surrounding his body.
"How long has it been?" Luke asked himself rhetorically.
Now he's a wolf, and as time went by, he accepted it more and more. It's not that he has really gotten used to this place, but there was simply no sensible way to turn back into a human.
After days of living here, the only thing he cares about is whether there will be food later, sleeping, and surviving from other predators who are desperate to take a life.
As Luke immersed himself in his thoughts, his eyes shone with a deep and misty light. Blurred, he could see through an open space a kind of illusion that had eclipsed him.
"What is this?"
In the distance, Luke was seeing a kind of illusion that had completely captured his attention, the images passing through his eyes were as real as if he were there.
...
While the cold winds whipped the barren Arctic tundra, a female Arctic fox with a bright trident-shaped mark on her forehead was hunting for her next meal in days. Her senses were sharp, and her keen eyes caught the movement of two large wolves in the distance. The female fox knew she was going to fight if she wanted to survive.
The two wolves were huge, with thick, hairy fur, and their eyes were fixed on the small female Arctic fox. They knew she was an easy target and charged forward, with their jaws open and ready to take drastic action against their prey. The female Arctic fox was fast and agile, dodging their attacks and biting their heels.
The wolves were relentless, circling around the fox, trying to wear her down. But the female Arctic fox was smart, using her small size to her advantage, darting in and out of the wolves' reach and launching quick, calculated strikes.
The battle continued, with the female Arctic fox and the wolves exchanging blows. Blood was drawn on both sides, but the female fox refused to back down. She was fighting for her life, and she would not give up without fighting to the death.
As the sun began to set over the Arctic landscape, the female Arctic fox landed a critical blow on one of the wolves, causing it to stagger. Seizing the opportunity, the fox fled, leaving the badly wounded wolves behind.
Panting heavily and with her white fur stained with blood, the female Arctic fox had emerged victorious from the intense battle. She had shown that even the smallest creatures could stand up to the most powerful predators in the Arctic.
But the angry wolves tracked down the female Arctic fox and, after seeing the figure in the distance, ran towards her. However, just as they were about to pounce on the small figure, the female Arctic fox turned her head and with her shining pupils, the bodies of the wolves were split in two.
After the wolves were completely killed by a quick light, Luke was truly eclipsed. His eyes could not look away from that small female Arctic fox, it must be said that in each of her movements, a light of pure arrogance overflowed.
By the time the female Arctic fox approached the corpses of the wolves, she opened her mouth and her sharp fangs pierced the flesh of these two large figures and soon filled her stomach.
From her mouth was dripping blood, and those deep eyes suddenly looked at Luke, who at this moment should be in some kind of dream.
When he thought all this was just a product of his imagination, he could hear words coming from a feminine voice telling him, "Find the room as soon as possible, you have to do it!"
Luke's eyes fixed on that little fox, and as if his senses felt it, he had no emotion distinguishing and after a few seconds the female arctic fox turned around and left.
...
By the time Luke came back to his senses, his body was covered in snow and his tail was frozen. What just happened right now? He wasn't sure, but the image of that female arctic fox was engraved in his mind leaving a bitter sensation.
While he was returning to the cave, Luke wondered, what room was she talking about and how could she speak in the first place?
Is she like him?
He wasn't sure of that, and for now, he could only add it to the list of weird things that have happened to him in the last few days.
Soon, on his way back, he found an arctic hare.
It was just one.
It must have been accidentally left alone after getting lost. By the time Luke was about to move, he quickly sensed a familiar scent and that was when he did not move.
At this moment, a figure emerged from under the snow in the distance, and it was none other than Baxter, who now only wanted to show off in front of his leader.
Suddenly there was a low growl and he moved as soon as that hare saw Luke.
Seeing this, Luke knew that Baxter no longer rushed recklessly towards prey.
After all, he doesn't have the speed or endurance to expose himself from the beginning as Luke does.
It goes without thinking that Baxter hid his body under the snow, moving like a snake as close as possible to his prey.
When his enemy was about to run, he suddenly jumped under the snow. Baxter's sharp claws fiercely attacked the arctic hare.
But this accidental arctic hare has very keen hearing.
When Baxter jumped out from behind the drift, he too began to flee.
Boom!
Baxter's sharp claw missed his target and instead landed in the snow, which made him very angry.
In front of his boss, he couldn't even hunt a hare!
Grrr!
With a furious growl, he ran towards the arctic hare.
This arctic hare was obviously not familiar with the environment here, so Baxter soon blocked it in front of a rock.
Angry, Baxter pushed the arctic hare into a corner, who could not escape on the ground.
Baxter's sharp fangs pierced the neck of the Arctic hare, splattering blood to the sides.
The Arctic rabbit struggled for a moment before falling silent in the jaws of its predator.
At that moment, Baxter wagged his tail and trotted towards his boss with the Arctic hare in his mouth.
"Wow!"
"Grr!" Luke grunted upon hearing Baxter bark like a dog and declined the gift he was being offered.
Nonetheless, there had been some progress with Baxter's hunting compared to before.
This made Baxter jump for joy. After a few minutes, he and Baxter returned to the cave.
This Arctic rabbit was a fresh treat for a group of growing puppies. On the other hand, Luke did not eat anything; he wanted to continue taking advantage of the last hours of the potion's effect and walked towards the female brown bear's corpse and began eating again.
Brown bear meat is rich in nutrients, and eating more can also help speed up the recovery of his wounds. And the meat of the female brown bear can now provide him with a lot of evolutionary value.
"[10 evolution points gained for eating female brown bear!]"
"[9.5 evolution points gained for eating female brown bear!]"
"[8.5 evolution points gained for eating female brown bear!]"
Luke had a large space in his stomach; he had just eaten a little over ten kilos of meat.
But if there was something that had conceived him, it was taking care of the female brown bear's fur so that in the future, it would be his bed in his private space. With this, he would no longer have to sleep on the cold ground and could finally feel a bit of warmth at night.
