Attibute Panel: Evolution from an Artic Wolf

50 - A special encounter

The road was familiar, and with a broken fishing net in his mouth, Baxter quickly advanced on the ice with Luke following behind.

On the way, Luke looked around, always alert, but this time, he did not come across a polar bear.

Luke remembered that behind him was where the polar bear had hunted that whale, and judging by the size of its prey, that beluga whale should weigh much more than a few hundred kilograms. With that amount of food, it was enough to eat for a long time. For now, Luke followed Baxter out of the layer of ice.

Although the fishing net seemed weak, it was really resistant, and carrying the amount of fish they had was more than enough to carry and move towards their destination. Baxter was more than happy to help every time they went out, so he continued to clumsily drag the net.

And again, it was completely dark. Under the night, everything was silent and without the slightest noise from any common animals, only the cold wind howled loudly.

But Luke's eyes could see in the darkness and he focused only on taking care of Baxter, who was still dragging the fishing net.

Surprisingly, there were no prey on the way, and predators had not shown up. The smell of the fish's blood also did not attract the attention of any animals, which really surprised Luke.

Luke knew that this deadly silence also represented a worrying situation for many predators, and he did not know why he felt a sense of being watched in the darkness.

He knew that possibly the strong predators would remain in their lairs protecting their food or their respective herd members this time.

Everyone was waiting for daylight, while others just took advantage of the darkness to hunt.

Since he had lived here, Luke never thought that an animal could survive in such a demanding environment. How can an Arctic animal live in the dark? It is true that many hibernate in winter and take advantage of summer to store food, but for those who did not do well, they have to go out and hunt.

Many questions have no answers, so every time he thinks about it, he admires all the animals in this place.

...

"We arrived..." Luke, in the company of Baxter, arrived at the cave where his old pack was.

The cave was a bit familiar, and although Luke left alone after a few months, he had a certain affection and appreciation for it. And to avoid causing problems or misunderstandings, Luke let out a long howl that resounded strongly in the surroundings.

Auuuuuuuuuuuuu!

The howl penetrated the cave, notifying the wolves of this territory that he was back. After a short time, in front of the cave, the majestic figure of Luke's father appeared.

Luke could look at his father as a majestic figure since he is his father, his blood, and the one who brought him into this world. Only now did he realize that his father was also very large, two meters long including the tail.

Perhaps not as good as Luke, but he was also tall and majestic. A pair of eyes that shone with a slightly red color in the dark night quickly noticed Luke and Baxter, who wagged his tail from side to side.

With his acute sense of smell, he could tell that it was his own pup and the lone wolf he had taken in long ago.

Luke's father didn't expect his pup, whom he had let roam on his own, to have grown so much and completely surpassed him. This made Luke's father very proud.

He also responded with a long howl and then ran out of the cave. It was his father who came immediately, and something he didn't expect was for his father to be so excited that he even licked Luke's fur.

Like an old wolf leader of a pack, Luke's father made these gestures when he was small, and this time Luke could feel that his father was truly surprised by his sudden appearance.

In addition, he also discovered that his father had become a bit thinner during this time. He could even tell that under the polar night, his father hasn't been able to have a good time with his pack.

Rrr! Luke growled softly, indicating to his father to look at the food he brought.

It's true that his father had never eaten fish, but he knew what it was due to his experience encountering this type of animal. Baxter was sitting and looking at this big wolf and couldn't stop wagging his tail.

Auuu!

Luke immediately pulled out an Arctic trout. After all, with sincere synesthesia, he brought this food for his parents and it depends on them if they share the food with the other wolves.

It was then that Luke's father bit into the Arctic trout. This type of meat under the scales was very nutritious and contained a lot of water, so he really began to eat it with intensity.

Luke had prepared the fish and removed the bitter sac they all have, so no one would have an unpleasant experience with that type of meat.

But after feeling the bones, Luke's father spat out a few. This made Baxter show him how to spit out these bones.

The bones were really annoying, but if eaten well they might not cause too much trouble. Of course, this is better with practice so as long as they know how to eat this meat, it will be a better experience.

After eating the first fish, Luke's father growled, indicating for them to follow him inside the cave. This time, Luke really wanted to see how his mother was, so he and Baxter found the cave while dragging the fish.
