Reverend Apocalysis: Reality Surpassed Fiction

Chapter 12 - A Job Opportunity?

"My father asked me to get weapons, including a lot of ammunition and the best you can find in terms of suppliers. Also, tactical equipment for a group of at least fifty people." Anton, in addition to requesting this, emphasized the importance of the weapons being of the highest quality, and he asked for some heavy machine guns.

Antonio remained silent as they headed to Anton's house. He didn't know what Anton's father was involved in, but if Anton himself requested all this, he must know if he needed help or not. "Wait a minute, how much budget do you have?"

"Three million dollars in gold. Half of the merchandise will be sent home, and the other half will be sent to a special address that I will send you later." Anton, as if all this wasn't planned, responded naturally.

"Do you know why your father needs so many weapons?" Antonio still felt very confused, so, before knowing the truth, he needed to get an answer.

Anton expected this. Antonio is not a man who can be easily influenced by words, so he had prepared an answer to this question in advance and said, "He has a Colombian friend. He asked my father for help to finance a guerrilla to eliminate a drug cartel that has been affecting the country, and the government avoids eliminating it due to the benefits the country gets."

"Oh, your father must owe him his life to finance a battle that isn't even in his own country. Well, I'll send everything you've asked for to your house tonight, and the rest will be moved to the point you'll send me. When do I pick up the money?" Antonio asked, completely pleased after this.

"I'll give it to you as soon as we get home, and I also want to give you something special as a thank you..." Anton, who saw how the workers were at home, sighed in relief and quickly headed inside his house without paying attention to anything else.

When he returned, Antonio was outside the truck looking at all the strange renovations, so he said, "What's all this crap?"

"Some special renovations for the coming days. You'll know when you see the contents of this USB drive..." Anton, in addition to preparing, had created a series of files warning about a supposed biological weapon that was in the hands of terrorists.

The purpose of this?

At least to inform his loved ones, like his uncle who had been helping him since he can remember, explain to his girlfriend what he would be doing during this time, and if he had the opportunity, at least do something useful with that information.

"What is this?" Antonio asked, slightly confused and serious at the same time.

"My father managed to steal some files in his last job. For that reason, he hasn't returned from work yet. I'm sharing this information that he uploaded to our storage cloud so that you can prepare... As you can see, I'm also doing this on orders once again from my father." Anton said with a smile as he walked back home.

"Did your father tell you to give it to me?" Antonio asked one last question.

Anton looked at his uncle and said, "Yes, uncle, take care a lot, and it's better that you take seriously what's on that USB drive. Don't show it to anyone else as it would really be a problem."

"Alright, Anton, you don't have to tell me. I'll prepare the things your dad asked for. I'll send you half here, and the other half will be sent as soon as you give me the delivery point."

When Anton saw his uncle Antonio walking away, he sighed. There was no better way to get illegal weapons than with his uncle, so after solving the issue of the illegal arms, he began to walk home to start with what was next.

Now he needed food urgently, he had to make sure that before it gets dark, at least a large part of the house is filled with food that he would move later to his secret place, which was the basement under the house. Taking a closer look at the house structure, he would need to build areas to reinforce the windows and doors that really needed a lot of improvements.

Just when Anton was looking at many possible improvements, a voice with a slightly strange accent called him, "Excuse me, are you Anton?"

Turning around, Anton saw a worker with a safety helmet and nodded, "Yes, I'm Anton, is there any problem?"

"Not really, we just have doubts about whether to expand the space by removing decorations at the back of the house. Also, do you require us to start the demolition immediately?" The worker asked, a bit puzzled. The house was nice, and there was nothing wrong with the structures.

"Oh, don't worry, I'll also need you to make some kind of fence on the windows to make it difficult to access." Anton nodded and pointed out some of the other things he wanted to have in his house.

"By the way, do you have some workers who can help me take some things out of the house? I need a certain hand inside; of course, this will be generously paid to everyone."

"Yes, Carlos and Rodrigo will help you." Said the worker and shouted loudly before two Latino men approached.

"The gentleman needs help inside the house; you can support him and come back when you finish with that."

"Yes, sir!"

Anton nodded and walked towards the interior of the house, then said, "I need you to clear the living room and take out unnecessary things from inside. I need a lot of space since many things will be arriving by mail throughout the day. The more space you can make, the better. Also, if any delivery person arrives, take care of getting everything inside the house as I fear it might be stolen."

Anton knew how common it was to be robbed when a product was left outside the house, so he emphasized what he needed from now on and pointed out, "In the kitchen, I'll need you to take out the chairs and tables, bookshelves, and things that might hinder me later. I'll take care of putting in whatever I can later in the day; you just need to take care of the space."

"What if we break something?" The worker asked slightly worried.

"Don't worry, I'll take full responsibility for that... Just don't touch the appliances, the large armchairs, and cabinets that can serve as a warehouse. Make space, take out what you think is in the way, and after that, put in whatever arrives at this house."

Having said that, Anton walked towards the entrance of his room and made sure to close all the doors while taking out his cell phone to dial a specific number. "Hello, yes, I'm the one who made the reservation for the trucks... Mmm, okay, I'll need two drivers for today."

When Anton finished the call, he held his head with fatigue and felt a strong headache. He hadn't slept properly for a long time, but this wasn't a problem due to lack of sleep but also because of the pressure on his body.

"Sir, the things you said are arriving, and there are many. Should we place them in the center of the living room?" A worker asked attentively.

"If you can place the boxes against the walls and along the length of the house, it will be much better. I'd like to leave the living room for other things that I'll bring later. There are some open rooms, so you can take out everything inside without caring if you break something. I've stored important things in advance, so I don't mind if something gets stolen."

After being ready, he made himself a cup of strong coffee and said, "If you need a drink, the fridge is full of cold water, sodas, and beers... You can take whatever and share it with others. I'll be gone for a few hours, if there's any problem, you can let me know by a call, and I'll return immediately."

"Thank you very much, boss. We'll take care of everything as you told us."

Anton nodded and walked towards the exit. Today, he needed to buy many things at a supermarket to have at least some extra food in case things got out of control later.

In just a few hours, the surroundings of the house were transforming very quickly, and hundreds of boxes were being unloaded by the delivery drivers.

One, in particular, said, "I'll need the buyer's signature. Are you in contact with your father?"

"Oh, I ordered it for him. Does my signature work for you?" Anton asked as he looked into the distance, two small trucks approaching.

"Yes, your form will do."

Anton, who quickly did everything he needed before leaving, sighed tiredly and muttered, "I'm going crazy..."
