Beyond the Veil: Kiran's Supernatural Hunt

Chapter 15: A Simple Expression

After getting into Gabriel's car, Kiran fell silent. He couldn't understand why the girl seemed scared after noticing his weapon. Perhaps he didn't show it much, but in reality, he was a very good detective specializing in violent crimes who was still in service.

However, at the moment, his body was anxious and restless due to something signaling within him. Something inside Kiran told him that the girl, for some reason, was in danger.

From Kiran's perspective, the girl appeared to be in perfect condition, but for some reason, his instincts told him she was in trouble.

Seeing Kiran's strange behavior, Gabriel asked while looking ahead, "Kiran, is something wrong?"

"Huh? No, nothing's wrong," Kiran murmured monotonously and unconsciously.

"What is it? You can tell a friend. You have to consider your state. You're no longer an ordinary person, and anything you see or feel, you should report directly. It's already a miracle that you're out of the hospital, after all."

But just as Kiran was about to respond to Gabriel's concerns, he closed his eyes tightly and turned his head slightly to the left, hearing a painfully loud ringing, like an auditory stun.

Ignoring his surroundings, sounds and memories slowly returned to him, with some voices unconsciously tormenting him.

"Captain, this isn't right. We need a second investigation..."

"[Captain, it's not just a dark entity.]"

"Retreat, everyone. Centrally, we need support. Logistics made a mistake; it's not just a dark entity; it's a damn nest. [We've detected more than three targets.] "

"[Dark entity! Dark entity! Dark entity! Dark entity! Dark entity!]"

The memories that had been hidden returned to Kiran slowly. Suddenly, Kiran felt a coldness running through his body and looked up to find his vision completely dark, only hearing the sound of gunfire and cries of distress from his comrades, accompanied by remorse.

Kiran's memories were returning one after another, as clear as a drop of crystal-clear water. Seeing Kiran stunned, Gabriel asked with a furrowed brow, "Kiran! Are you listening?"

"That girl is marked by a dark entity; I could feel it." Kiran murmured, touching his head lightly due to the pain.

"What did you just say?" Gabriel asked, abruptly parking the car on the side of the road.

"The girl from earlier is marked by a dark entity; she's in danger... A dark entity may have made contact with her; she's in danger," Kiran said, closing his eyes tightly.

Gabriel's expression became serious.

It seemed Kiran's memories had returned.

Gabriel wasn't prepared for this kind of conversation; it would be a huge loss if he failed to explain the inexplicable to Kiran about what happened with his team.

"Kiran, no..."

"How are you so sure? Have your memories returned?" Gabriel asked, sweat accumulating on his face.

Kiran remembered the girl from a moment ago, the dark aura surrounding her body, and that particular smell of something damp. "The last thing you should do is not trust me. You owe it to me for sending me on that death mission."

"Did the weird girl from earlier really get marked by a dark entity? Don't worry; it might just be a little anxiety. Due to the confusion of your memories, you might be making a mistake."

Kiran looked at Gabriel and said with a cold expression, "I don't make mistakes; I felt it in my body once I saw the drawing, and I can be sure of my perception."

Kiran wasn't lying; his body warned him that something wasn't entirely right. Since he saw the back of that girl, he felt uneasy, as if he were looking at a monster. A new perception told him that there was something out of the ordinary. He didn't know if it was his new abilities, but he deeply believed that the girl from earlier was in danger.

Gabriel fell silent and looked at Kiran with a headache; physical, dark entities hadn't appeared for a while, so it was very sudden to speculate through a senseless drawing. Why was Kiran so anxious?

Kiran hadn't fully recovered his memories; everything was confusing, but he trusted his body's instincts.

"I'll take care of it; it's my job right now. I'll take you home. I want you to calm down for now, and when I think it's time, you'll be informed about the results." Gabriel said as he drove again.

He couldn't do anything; contradicting Kiran in his unstable state would only make things very difficult for both him and the complete recovery of his condition. Therefore, considering that he should listen to any request from the S.G.C. captains, he didn't think much and decided to report this incident.

He pressed the phone, called directly from the car, and ordered directly, "Activate the protocol against dark entities at my location. I want a special tracking team opened as soon as possible."

"Sir, our logistics members haven't found anything abnormal on surveillance cameras, and police reports are still under observation." A voice responded on the other end of the phone.

"In the hospital where Captain Kiran was located approximately ten minutes ago, a girl in uniform might have been the key to this new disaster. Do what you have to do without asking."

Gabriel explained with a more serious tone, "Understood, sir. We'll handle it!"

"Good, I'll be back as soon as I can." Gabriel said as he hung up the phone.

After hearing what Gabriel said, Kiran was stunned.

Although he was unaware of his own behavior, Gabriel's sudden actions left him speechless.

He didn't expect this development to be caused by his instincts. In his memories, he and his team entered an abandoned factory. Huge, three-meter figures attacked and killed them one by one. The last thing he could distinguish was chasing a figure that escaped, and after running a lot, he finally managed to eliminate it.

It wasn't surprising his strange behavior at the sight of a similar figure.

Those figures were quite strange demonic beasts for the current modern world. If any kind of rumor or evidence leaked, it would cause panic among civilians.

He and his team were one of the main squads responsible for eliminating those threats. Easily put, they were the wall that separated ordinary people from the terrifying and bloody realm of the unusual.

...

Gabriel's car stopped at a relatively large apartment building where Kiran currently lived.

Gabriel looked at Kiran and said while adjusting his glasses, "Kiran, stay calm and go back to work when you feel better. We'll talk later about your new position within your main job."

"Don't worry, Director, I just need to eat something and rest." Kiran said as he got out of the car and took his suitcase from the back seat.

"Good, you'll be notified if anything comes up in the girl's investigation. Until then, don't get involved in anything dangerous."

After Gabriel said that, he accelerated and drove away from where Kiran was.

"For God's sake..."

Kiran walked towards the elevator and pressed the button for the seventh floor.

He was pondering over some questions.

What will he do after today?

His second job was to be a detective specializing in violent crimes, and his main priority has been eliminating anomalies since he joined the special containment force.

Will he continue with his normal life if he decides to quit?

No.

What motivated him to keep going?

His loved ones, those who supported him when he needed them the most, The families of his fallen subordinates, who also fought for similar goals,.

From his perspective, Kiran believed wholeheartedly in continuing to do what he thought was right to keep this world as peaceful as possible.

Will he keep killing demons?

The answer is undoubtedly yes. Knowing the new capability of his strength, it's impossible to abandon it, and most likely, even Gabriel lied to him about not conducting new investigations with the result of his body.

"I'm not that naive..." Kiran murmured quietly.

After a long time, Kiran scratched his head and felt very confused. When he was thinking about more things, the elevator door opened.

Upon exiting, he went straight to his apartment. Looking inside, he only now realized that he was truly alone.

"I'm home..."

After eating something, he decided to go directly to sleep. He had many thoughts in his head, and it's best to go to sleep since tomorrow he has plans to figure them out.
