Chapter 100: The Demon That Tasted Silver
Ethan glanced at the old woman, a faint smile playing on his lips as his face darkened, veins turning black, and his eyes briefly glowing a deep, ominous shade.
"You are..." The old woman took a few steps back, realizing what Ethan truly was. She had assumed he was some kind of monster.
"To kill monsters, we need to become something even more monstrous. I’ve made sure that humanity holds that power in their own hands," Ethan said, as five of the people behind him exhibited similar dark transformations.
He had used five vials of a serum to turn his men into superhumans. Now these five enhanced soldiers could easily take on vampires. More doses were in development, but for now, this would be more than enough to complete the mission.
"If you know anything useful, I suggest you share it now. You can trust me. I’m the Regent of the S.G.C.'s First Division, responsible for protecting all of South America and, of course, this country. I’ve come to verify the situation in the nearby village."
"Hunters," the old woman muttered.
Ethan noticed Liam approaching and whispering in his ear, "The drones haven't detected any survivors. The village we're heading to is completely deserted."
"Activate the perimeter. Kill anything within five kilometers of the village. And send in the containment teams for backup," Ethan instructed, shifting his focus back to the woman in front of him.
"My name is Maria. I worked as a field agent for a long time."
"That’s good to hear. Then, Agent Maria, if you know something we don’t, speak now, or we’ll be on our way," Ethan said, his smile thin but his tone unyielding.
Maria stepped aside and said, "You're walking into an ambush. Whoever is there wants you all dead. I barely escaped with my life... or rather, they let me go so you would know."
"Perfect. We prefer the hard jobs. Do you have a name for me?" Ethan asked, knowing that his sole purpose was to kill. It was all that matters.
"Amon…"
Ethan’s smile faded slightly. There was nothing more to discuss. He turned to leave and said, "Thank you for your cooperation, but it seems you've been bitten by a vampire."
"What? Then kill me."
Without hesitation, Ethan stepped back toward his vehicle. A man with a beard and long hair tied back pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the woman.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
They were all killers, and killing had become part of their daily routine. None of them hesitated to pull the trigger.
With their new abilities, five of Ethan’s agents were virtually unstoppable, immune to death unless decapitated. All had successfully adapted to the serum, with Ethan being the fastest, though his agents were not far behind.
"Let’s go, Austin. We need to get there before our host for the evening vanishes."
Austin climbed into one of the trucks without a word. Killing vampires was his sole purpose, and joining Ethan's group had finally given him the power to do so with his own hands.
The convoy of ten trucks quickly approached the village. Two vehicles at the front moved aside, and three men jumped out, leaping to the highest rooftops to observe the surroundings.
"Zz... Keep your eyes open. Vampires could be hiding anywhere."
