Chapter 101: Extermination
"I want a team of fifteen men up front and the rest guarding the rear. We'll carry the relic in the center and kill anything that moves inside, human or not." Ethan strapped on a belt filled with special ammunition.
The soldiers around him immediately equipped themselves with gas masks that covered their eyes and mouths, along with protective vests. They carried high-caliber weapons blessed by exorcists. But before they entered the main building, the only one showing significant activity, Ethan turned to the accompanying exorcist and said, "Priest, my agents could use a prayer to strengthen their mental defenses."
"Of course, right away," said the priest nervously. Ethan's calm demeanor surprised him, which gave him a bit more courage.
"Oh God, by your word, you sanctify all things. Bless this object, and through the invocation of your Holy Name, grant health to the body and protection to the spirit."
"Thank you, Father!"
The agents, now blessed, felt ten times more protected. They all knew the power of blessings, regardless of the religion they followed. One by one, the thirty people accompanying Ethan received the blessing. They activated their night vision goggles, and those without them turned on green lasers that immediately pierced the darkness.
When the blessing was complete, Ethan unsheathed his sword and approached the wooden door of the massive building, which resembled a headquarters. "Can you feel us, demon? Get ready, because today I’m going to seal you away.
"Should we use explosives to open the door?" an agent asked.
Ethan shook his head and said, "Austin, handle it."
With that command, Austin approached the door, knowing exactly where to strike. He unleashed a powerful punch that sent the old door flying several meters away.
Boom!
After breaking down the enormous door, Austin brushed the dust off his leather glove and walked inside, radiating dark energy.
"Zz... Listen up, Amon is an extraordinarily powerful demon that manifests in a massive body. He has two wings that allow him to fly, and his brute strength can easily give us trouble."
Ethan delivered this message as they reached an open hall. Everyone formed a perimeter, ensuring there were no immediate threats. But suddenly, a soldier spotted the face of a cursed woman and pulled the trigger several times.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Zz... Second floor of the building, I saw a figure, but now it's gone!"
Ethan aimed his weapon at the tower, but there was nothing there. However, sensing a cursed trace of darkness lingering in the spot, he knew the demon was nearby.
"Zz... Stay close; don’t fire unless it’s a physical projection."
As they advanced, they all felt a chill descend over their bodies, and their silver crosses trembled slightly. No matter what form the demon took, they wouldn’t be deceived in their faith, despite not fully understanding the power they were up against.
Ethan had assembled this special team because he knew he needed a frontline squad similar to himself for situations like this. Each of them was a soldier seeking vengeance, living solitary lives with few people left to love. Regardless of the surroundings, they wouldn’t waver.
Crack!
Ethan entered the large hall, which seemed to be the main site of past ceremonies. They needed a large space like this to start the manifestation ritual, which would allow them to seal the demon inside an ancient relic they had brought.
Though they were engulfed in darkness, they could all see perfectly. To improve the situation further, Anton ordered, "Set up artificial lights; remove the night vision goggles."
"Zz... understood, sir!"
The agents threw military-grade chemical lights around, and dozens of them gradually illuminated the surroundings.
After this, Ethan ordered the relic to be placed in the center. Taking the book used to summon the demon, he murmured, "You know we’re here to imprison you and send you back to hell, where you belong. Your name gives me dominion over you, demon, and I know your name."
Crack! Crack! Crack!
As Ethan recited these words, the stone lion statues around them seemed to come to life. Just as everyone started focusing on them, a figure resembling a three-meter-tall goat appeared at the doorway leading to another hallway.
"You will die in the worst way!"
Ethan, unfazed, shouted, "Fire!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
In an instant, a fierce battle erupted in the grand hall. The agents fired at human-like figures rushing toward them with incredible speed. Meanwhile, Ethan received a message: "Zz... Boss, hordes of vampires are headed to the church. We’ll stop them, but we need to regroup."
"Your name gives me dominion over you, demon, and I know your name! You are Amon, the one who incites wrath and murder! In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I condemn you back to hell!"
Ethan knew this dark entity was the powerful demon Amon. His mere manifestation was due to someone summoning him for revenge against Ethan, a deal any demon would gladly fulfill.
