Chapter 107: The Confusion
"Who are all of you?" A police officer approached, pointing his gun. Blood covered his head, likely from an accident or injury.
"Lower your weapon now!"
"You sons of b*****, what are you doing to the people?"
Ethan could clearly sense the officer's fear, so he approached without hesitation. His suit was fully prepared to withstand bullets, and as the leader, he moved forward to resolve this small inconvenience.
"We are the Association of Light. Lower your weapon," Ethan said calmly.
Anyone with knowledge of dark entities and the world’s happenings would recognize the Association of Light.
"You should have come sooner," the officer murmured, lowering his pistol.
"Evil has been unleashed in this town. You're in danger, so you'll be evacuated along with the unmarked civilians," Ethan said, handing the officer a silver cross.
"Many have died, vanished without a trace. We were hiding in a warehouse," the officer explained, making it clear there were more survivors.
"It can't be."
"How did something like this happen?"
These people knew it was the work of evil.
Ethan pondered this as he recalled the history of this town and the specific reason why there had been so many exorcisms here.
Towns with history often possess deeper knowledge of dark entities because of their rich past. The locals knew very well what the exorcist priests did.
"Calm down! Calm down!" The police officer began to tremble as screams echoed around them.
Ethan watched as another squad arrived at the scene. The cleaners would now take charge, blessing the area and keeping it free of dark entities.
While the healthy were being moved to safe zones, Ethan prepared himself to face the entity waiting for him here.
He didn’t know who it was; he had never heard of it before. But what Ethan knew was that it appeared to be a very powerful demon that would cause him significant trouble.
After securing the community, Ethan walked toward a vehicle to restock his ammunition.
Everyone else knew what to do.
"What should we do?" Liam asked, staring at the victims, fully aware that the situation was becoming unsustainable.
"Hunt and eliminate!" Ethan responded decisively.
"Hunt? Eliminate the new dark entity." Liam understood that this was their best option.
Of course, they would have to make many sacrifices to achieve something like that.
One wrong move, and it could mean certain death for any of them.
And Ethan certainly had no intention of dying here.
But he had a mission: to eliminate as much evil as possible and ensure that those who hadn't been tainted by the darkness were protected.
Those with a naturally wicked heart were the easiest to possess, while those with a strong moral compass couldn't be touched.
Doing good deeds could protect people's souls. After all, doing the right thing had benefits that many were unaware of.
"Let's move out!" Ethan shouted, gripping his sword.
"Understood, sir!"
"We're heading to the center of town. We're likely to face the greatest resistance there." Liam relayed the information to the squad captains to keep them informed.
Ethan climbed into the passenger seat, looked ahead, and turned up the radio.
"Zz... heavy resistance on the north side. Multiple victims have been neutralized."
"Zz... The south side is under control, evacuating those untouched by the darkness."
"Zz... No survivors found in the west, pushing deeper into the area."
"They'll be waiting for us." Ethan murmured as he glanced at Liam, who was driving this time.
"We’re entering the center of town. The other zones have been evacuated, so this is the last place!"
"Keep your eyes wide open!"
Ethan stared into a thick fog that obscured their view. He couldn’t see beyond what the others saw, but unlike them, he could feel it.
"Prepare yourselves!"
Brrraa!
At that moment, a car crashed into their convoy, right next to Ethan.
The impact wasn’t severe, but it succeeded in halting their movement. Anton, who was on the side of the collision, turned around. "Get out now! Shoot anything that shows hostile intent."
It was midday, but the sky was completely overcast, casting a grim atmosphere over the surroundings.
Crack!
Ethan paused and looked beyond where the others were gazing, as the ground began to vibrate.
JJ, who was beside him, muttered, "There are hundreds."
In front of them, hundreds of people started rushing toward their direction, all with blood-red eyes and blood dripping from their mouths. It was clear—they were vampires.
"Establish the perimeter, and don't be afraid!"
"Arrgghhhhh!"
