Hunter, Don't Shoot My Friend

Chapter 111: Battle Data

In a short time, the village was surrounded by an army battalion, and the vampires hiding were quickly identified and exterminated without any trouble.

Ethan, drenched in blood, looked at his special agents and asked, "Where have you been all this time?"

"We were preventing the vampires from escaping. We couldn’t let them flee the village. If it weren’t for your shadows, we wouldn’t have succeeded, but that doesn’t excuse our delay," an agent responded, bracing for his punishment.

"Good work. Eat some nutrients; you've lost a lot of blood." Ethan approached the injured area and went directly to them to ease their pain.

"Regent, sir..."

Ethan placed a finger on his lips, signaling for everyone to stay silent. Many had serious injuries, but fortunately, with the new Tyran serum, they could heal.

There was no need to turn his agents into monsters to get them back in the field.

"Is the pain subsiding?" Ethan asked an agent with severe injuries, who weakly nodded just before his heart stopped.

The pain Ethan was absorbing coursed through his body, but he showed no signs of discomfort, despite the agony roaring inside him. He simply gave everyone a look of pride for having completed their mission.

This is what a regent does—he provides them with safety.

No matter how different Ethan may seem, he was never insensitive. He cared deeply for the well-being of his followers and wanted them to live long enough to leave this dangerous work.

At least those with families were not accepted into his team. All his followers were dying wolves seeking revenge.

Their deaths wouldn’t matter; no one would care.

But they knew that Ethan cared about their lives, and that’s why they did everything in their power to survive, to stay by their regent’s side until he retired.

Life situations are often ironic.

"Regent, I’ll be fine. I’ve helped many with their pain. Rest now."

"Boss, we’re fine. We’re a bunch of cursed immortals."

"Rest, Regent."

Voices came from all sides, as the agents wouldn’t let Ethan absorb their pain, knowing well that it would enter his body. So those who were in better shape stopped him.

Ethan nodded slightly, then walked away toward the area where the dead were being burned.

“Civilian casualties confirmed: 689, including parents with children in universities,” an agent approached Ethan to have him sign some papers.

There were a little over a thousand civilians here. Some had been possessed, and others turned into vampires. It was a surprise that more than four hundred survived, though not for those who would later have to explain what truly happened.

Ethan nodded slightly, checked the time, and without waiting for anyone, walked aimlessly until he reached a secluded spot where no one could see him. There, he began analyzing the battle statistics.
