Hunter, Don't Shoot My Friend

Chapter 114: The Judgment Before Departure [3]

Now this group of highly trained men and women—no, they should collectively be called special agents of the Association of Light—met all the necessary requirements to face dark entities, both corporeal and non-corporeal, as well as for field research and supervision of highly complex missions.

At that moment, Ethan looked at JJ and said, "We need to explain the second part."

JJ nodded and pressed a button, lighting up a large screen next to Ethan. Then he said, "From now on, you are considered a special elimination force against dark entities. All of your information will be encrypted and classified. To the public, you will be seen as regular agents working for a private research institution approved by global governments. That is who we will be to the public and to anyone who questions our work."

After saying this, Ethan signaled for a series of faces to appear on the screen.

"These people were highly experienced in eliminating dark entities. A few weeks ago, an experienced priest led an incursion, but they were misinformed. That small error led to the entire team being wiped out." Ethan showed no sign of sadness. Instead, he looked at the agents in front of him with complete authority.

Seeing the faces of all the fallen agents, countless people in the crowd were shocked. It was very possible that, with a stroke of bad luck or a single mistake, they could be the next to fall in battle.

"To the families of these agents, they died saving the country. To us, they were warriors who carried the banner high. They showed us that it doesn't take much to defend our human side. They taught me that my duty is to protect your friends, your children, and your parents."

Ethan roared with a powerful voice, "Our duty is to protect the future of our families, the future of their families, and the future of the next generations."

Instinctively, everyone felt a burning fire surge in their chests. They looked at the faces of the soldiers on the screen with nothing but respect.

"You have the opportunity to protect your family, friends, and young people with beautiful aspirations. The Association of Light will work to extend the time in which dark entities remain hidden from the public."

Ethan didn’t say they would prevent dark entities from being revealed to the public, as that dream was highly improbable. Eventually, people would discover that there was something else in the world slowly devouring them. "And for that, we need to eliminate anything that is no longer human, no matter if it hides in the skin of a small child."

The new members of the Association of Light were not too confused by Ethan's words. Many of them, albeit few, had already encountered a dark entity before.

Some had even been lucky enough to eliminate one, arriving with a mind prepared for what needed to be done.

"I’ve had some luck surviving up to this point, but I’m not a Regent by chance. I earned that title with skills beyond human comprehension." Ethan thought to himself as he silently observed everyone.

"You will all receive a credential that will grant you access to highly classified information, videos on dark entities, incursions, and the latest weaponry." JJ pointed to the screen, displaying unique content.

"There are six different levels of dark entities. Personally, I’ve faced level-four dark entities, and based on my experience, I must say, never underestimate them. If the monster, demon, or evil spirit has human skin, you must follow orders exactly as they are given." Ethan touched the purple cross on his chest and said, "Anyone who disobeys orders will face a painful death."

"Now, all of you will be monitored by special groups such as logistics, surveillance, and the Eye of God, which is the all-seeing entity in this world. They all work together to provide special information to the Association of Light and, above all, to maintain the confidentiality of the information shown to you today."

After listening to Ethan’s words, everyone understood the gravity of the situation. If any of them leaked information to a third party, they would be discovered within seconds, making it clear that no breach of secrecy would be tolerated.

"Regent..." Someone in the crowd raised their hand and asked, "Since we are a secret force of the Association of Light under your command, what kind of weapons will we use? We can’t fight those monsters with standard soldier gear, can we?"

"Well, that’s a good question." Ethan didn’t answer in a rush. Instead, he looked at JJ and said, "First, have them put on their uniforms. Let’s make the preparations; it’s almost time."

After speaking, Ethan left the meeting room, leaving behind a group of very puzzled people.

JJ gave a standard military salute, took a deep breath, and yelled forcefully at all the soldiers present: "What are you all still doing sitting down? Get your asses out of those chairs this instant! You heard what the captain said. From now on, you are agents of the Association of Light! Now, get out of here and go get your uniforms."

"Quickly!"

JJ’s roar startled the entire group of the Association of Light, their minds racing. Instinctively, they stood up, gave a military salute, and responded loudly: "Yes, sir!"

...

As Ethan made his way to a special room for hand-to-hand combat training, his thoughts kept revolving around future problems.

On one hand, he firmly believed that ordinary people should know about the dark entities, and on the other, he wanted to keep everything a secret.

"I should be ashamed for brainwashing all those people... But we really need more soldiers." Ethan thought as he analyzed the possibility of such a situation.

Around the world, it would be very difficult to keep all incidents involving the elimination of dark entities under wraps. So, it was obvious that it was only a matter of time before the bomb exploded.

However, none of the governments were prepared for the situations they had recently faced with dark entities.

The logistics departments outside the Association of Light had previously been responsible for tracking dark entities and providing logistical information to a special group for their elimination.

Since everything happened suddenly, they didn’t have the necessary resources to keep up with the rate at which dark entities were appearing.

But now everything was different. The Association of Light was responsible for both logistics and elimination, and the Eye of God, the world’s largest monitoring weapon, possessed solely by the Association, would monitor its members to ensure that no one leaked confidential information.

The moment a soldier belonging to the Association of Light leaked information, it would be considered treason, and they would eventually be executed in the worst possible way.

"This is exhausting..."

According to the information he had received, different departments in cities would open special Association of Light branches to keep the entire country protected.

Therefore, as long as nothing out of the ordinary happened, numerous ex-soldiers and police officers would be transferred to the Association of Light departments, increasing the country’s security.

Looking at the information on his smart tablet, Ethan reviewed the names of the teams that made up his unit.

Special reaction forces: Agents of the Light. This was a secret special unit tasked with eliminating dark entities emerging around the world.

Each member was a specialist in something specific, making this command a perfect team for eliminating monsters.

The teams that made up each base were five: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Reserve.

Each team was comprised of twenty elite members, experts in different fields.

Every team was designed to be efficient in eliminating incursions and to be better distributed. All members of the base were led by exorcists and hunters.

This information was easily accessible as long as one belonged to the Association of Light.

"Regent! Mr. JJ is waiting for you in the training room. The equipment you requested is already there." A logistics agent saluted him and relayed the information.

"Good, let’s get started." Ethan responded indifferently and walked toward the training hall.
