Hunter, Don't Shoot My Friend

Chapter 26: Never Mess with a Winchester

"I can try to kill you." Peter tried to convey strength and confidence in this statement.

Ethan coldly stared at Peter and warned him, "Don't play with me. You may feel powerful because you're an alpha, but that strength you're so proud of is insignificant to me."

That was the reality that even Peter knew: Ethan could kill him if he wanted to, because he belonged to the oldest family of hunters on record.

Peter had heard of the Winchesters. Some had the support of a spiritual guardian, granting them supernatural strength that easily wiped out everything around them.

It's even said that the ancestors of that family eliminated Dracula. How strong must this family of hunters be to not fear supernatural beings wherever they go?

"How did you find me?"

"It wasn't a complicated task. You're registered as Peter Hale, and we have you in those records as a vegetarian werewolf. When we discovered that Laura Hale was killed, it became a real problem because the authority as alpha had been stripped from her, which was concerning."

The Light Association didn’t want a rogue werewolf attacking the town; this would be a disaster that could escalate to a national level if not properly handled.

Ethan understood this and hoped Peter did as well. "When we learned about this, we considered many options, and you were the most likely. A werewolf in a coma? What a farce; you were just recovering from your severe injuries."

"You're smart; you've proven that... Oh no, you have a group that licks your boots behind your back," Peter muttered as his wounds healed.

"Your nephew is in this town, confused and very angry, and he's going to seek revenge for his sister's death. You're an idiot; no man had the right to lead the Hale family because they were stupid and ambitious."

"Who are you to say that?"

"My duty is to maintain control. I don't have the luxury of dealing with diplomatic details between dark entities, and I don't worry about the safety of the people you might try to appease me with."

Ethan moved away from Peter as if he had no fear of being attacked by surprise and said, "Do you know why that is? We're exterminators—agents of the highest level trained to kill. Don't compare us to mere hunters; we feel nothing about losing civilian victims."

Peter didn’t attack; he knew there was little chance of escaping from Ethan and dozens of other well-prepared agents ready to capture him. "That's ridiculous..."

"I won't kill you now. As a gift and satisfaction, I'll give the Hale family the honor of taking revenge. Did you hear that? They will have our help to avenge themselves. I need the Hale family back in this place because for hundreds of years they have kept this town in peace."

"The Hale family will no longer be the guardians of this town."

Ethan nodded and said with a smile, "That was clear, but fortunately, you've changed things by killing Laura. Now your nephew is here seeking revenge."

"You'll use him..."

"He'll be kept busy with the werewolf you recently turned. After that, I expect him to resolve other matters before starting on his revenge problem." Ethan signaled the agents outside, and they entered with special equipment to subdue Peter.

"What is this?" Peter would not allow himself to be humiliated like this.

Ethan consoled him and said, "If you lay a hand on those agents, I'll rip your limbs off; do you understand? Now your fate is in my hands, not yours."
