Chapter 34: New Authority
"Now, as the regent of an entire continent, the authority of my family surpasses that of any country or state. Do the high commands understand this well?" Ethan asked as he sipped his coffee.
Gabriel sighed softly. Being in a meeting with monsters disguised as humans was truly exhausting. "The world is protected by only two capable individuals: Kiran and you. Anton is the guardian of our world and of Hell. The Grimms are nearly extinct, and the same goes for the Winchesters. There are fewer than twenty members left, so you need to teach the new ones your methods."
The Grimm family of hunters had been losing members due to their incompetence in making sacrifices—something the Winchesters excelled at.
Ethan acknowledged many families that had earned the title of nobles from the governments of the world. They were, in fact, the only ones with a recognized title, but each family, as evident, had suffered significant losses, which is why their numbers were dwindling today.
"I'm not blaming anyone, least of all the Grimms. They've been eliminating dark entities since the time of Hitler. Like us, they have dedicated their entire history to eliminating supernatural creatures," Ethan said, showing little concern for the matter.
Gabriel smiled awkwardly and said, "From what I understand, you should have many children by now. You're twenty-five, but you still don't have a partner... Do you want me to help with that?"
"It's not the right time for that. I'm a sensitive person; I need to find my ideal partner." Ethan was aware of this additional responsibility. He was one of the few who belonged to the royal family and was obligated to have many descendants.
Women were not subjected to these rules, only men.
Ethan had ignored this obligation all this time because he focused solely on killing. But now, with new agents in that sector, the pressure on them due to the small masses of low-level monsters is decreasing.
"I'll find my partners gradually. There are still two ShadowBanes alive, so don't bother me with these trivial matters." Ethan stood up after finishing his coffee.
Gabriel also stood up, paid the bill, and left the shop. "From today onwards, everything will be handled by computers. You'll have access to the missions through your personal email."
"Isn't it curious? I think everything is going to go to hell, and it's only a matter of time... Well, it doesn't matter. You should visit us at least once; the agents would appreciate seeing someone interested in their lives," Ethan said sarcastically, criticizing how the leaders partly disengaged from eliminating dark entities.
Gabriel understood all of this, so he replied, "I'll keep that in mind, but you know, if a leader dies, it takes a long time for the organization to recover."
"Is the AI project still on?" Ethan asked, looking directly at Gabriel.
"That won't happen..."
...
A few hours later, Ethan returned to the school, where Stiles was waiting for him after his training.
"Get in; we're heading straight to work."
Stiles, who thought Ethan wouldn't come, was a bit excited and quickly got into the car. "I thought something terrible had happened, but now that we're on our way to the place, why don't you tell me exactly what I need to do?"
"It's nothing complicated. I know you're prepared for it."
