Chapter 70: Enhancing the Armament
"How is it possible that my best agents don't have the super soldier serum, yet some nobody with human enhancements is out there trying to kill me? We're at war, and we'll be losing it if we don't improve. Whoever is behind this must pay at any cost." Ethan was furious about the recent events.
The assassination attempt itself was the least of his concerns; what he couldn't tolerate was that his top agents were incapacitated by humans with enhanced abilities. If that was the case, he seriously considered using the serum in his possession to mechanically enhance his people—they needed to be updated.
If anyone outside the organization was involved in human enhancements that could fuel the war against dark entities, every means necessary, no matter how unsavory, would be employed to find them.
"They died when you decapitated them. I suppose that's the way to kill them if we ever face them again." Liam had quickly discovered the assassins' weakness.
The twins possessed super strength, extreme speed, and regeneration, possibly even supernatural abilities like psychokinesis, but none of them moved after their heads were cut off.
All things considered, along with their healing factor that could regenerate limbs, the twins had only one weakness: their heads.
Shooting them in the head could likely eliminate them, albeit with some casualties, but at least they had a chance.
Despite this, Ethan wanted to increase those chances while reducing losses. He wanted his commanding agents to be as strong as those twins, and for that, he needed to inject them with the serum he had taken. He could even take a serum himself, further enhancing his physical abilities.
"What kind of armor has arrived?" Ethan asked as he watched the containers being loaded onto a truck.
In an abandoned factory currently under renovation at Ethan's request, the loaders responsible for distributing the weapons looked at the list and, with surprise, looked at Anton again.
"Apologies; we only just received the information we needed to deliver. Anyway, you have thirty state-of-the-art tactical combat armors and electronic propulsion rifles capable of eliminating non-visible dark entities like spirits, ghosts, or curses."
The armor covered the entire body and focused on defending against ghosts, powerful dark entities like curses, and high-caliber projectiles.
There were also electronic rifles with six lithium batteries that provided three shots before needing to be replaced with new ones.
Additionally, they received six combat robots that served both for carrying weapons and equipping them with arms.
This type of weaponry could only be seen in a futuristic battle, but it was here for them to use against anomalies.
Whether it was spiritual, divine, or dark energy, these weapons were designed to crush anything related to the other side of the abyss.
Undoubtedly, the technology was on par with dark entities, giving Ethan the faint idea that humans might actually survive larger catastrophes.
This wasn't surprising—Ethan knew that the greatest minds in the world were united in creating this weaponry and wouldn't rest until they developed strong robots capable of replacing humans in elimination operations.
At least that way, there would be fewer casualties.
"Load everything up; we're leaving," Ethan said after confirming that everything was in order.
Since things had gotten a bit out of control, he wanted to accelerate the process of creating the laboratory beneath his mansion so that he could have his own super soldiers ready before receiving any more unexpected visits.
He would ensure that his most trusted men were prepared.
On the way, checking the time, he said, "I have some things to take care of in town. Everyone else can go to the mansion and rest. The guests can be taken home; be courteous."
As he finished saying that, a vehicle controlled by artificial intelligence appeared on the road and pulled up beside him. No one was surprised; the vehicle was registered, so it didn't trigger any alerts, and everyone continued on their way as Ethan took a different path.
