Chapter 80: Massacre
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Arrrgh!"
The vampires that lunged at the soldiers immediately fell to the ground, struck down by silver bullets. The soldiers acted without hesitation, knowing their mission was given by the guardian. With the loss of two comrades, they unleashed their fury through their guns.
At this moment, each soldier advanced into the depths of the basement. Those vampires that could be captured were subdued, but regardless of the outcome, there was no doubt a massacre was taking place.
"Stay in formation! Do not fire in the direction where the regent is fighting!"
"Understood, sir!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Aaaahhh!"
A soldier screamed as a vampire grabbed his arm and hurled him against a wall. Several more vampires appeared, attempting to tear his arms off. But at that moment, other soldiers advanced and fired at the vampires’ bodies, which behaved like rabid dogs.
"Targets neutralized!"
"Engage the enemy on the right with fire!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Don’t kill them! My brother is among them!"
An agent turned and saw a man rushing toward the basement. He raised his weapon to stop him, but a girl stepped in front of the barrel. "What the hell are you doing in here? Get out right now!"
"I'm sorry, I’m so sorry!"
The Beta team captain ordered, "Soldier, get those civilians out of here!"
"Don’t kill them! My brother is among those vampires!" Seth, restrained by Lisa, pleaded with the soldiers as he realized Ethan had ordered the execution of all vampires.
Richard was among the vampires, so Seth desperately wanted to stop the soldiers from killing his friend.
...
Crack!
Ethan severed Morbius’s left arm as the vampire tried to pierce his heart. Every movement the vampire made was detected by Ethan, like a predator stalking its prey. Despite his injuries, Ethan ignored the pain, focusing solely on his target.
Morbius stopped holding back, revealing his true ancient form. Realizing he was facing a powerful enemy, he knew he had to give everything or perish. In an instant, he launched himself fiercely at Ethan, aiming for his head with deadly precision.
Crack!
Ethan’s movements shifted as he gathered a concentrated mass of dark energy, aided by his aura control ability. Around him, shadows that had already dispatched the majority of the vampires emerged on the scene.
As Ethan’s slow, deliberate attack formed, Morbius’s face twisted in fury, sensing a mortal threat before his eyes. In response, he shifted his attack, striking Ethan’s leg with tremendous force.
Crack!
Ethan didn’t retreat. Gritting his teeth, he unleashed his full power in a counterattack. The soldiers nearby, who were suppressing the remaining enemies, saw a powerful burst of darkness, forcing them to remove their night vision goggles as the basement suddenly plunged into deeper shadow.
Everyone understood that this was the ability of a supernatural being.
In the hands of a Winchester, who would fear vampires?
A dense darkness erupted from the spot where Ethan battled the vampire. At that same moment, the light that didn’t kill the other vampires but restricted them allowed the soldiers to use the opportunity to deploy nets and remove the vampires from the basement.
While the others watched intently as Ethan fought the ancient vampire, they began to move, ready to assist as soon as the opportunity arose.
"Aaaahhh!"
Under countless gazes, a figure was flung from the epicenter, where the darkness was most intense. After tumbling several times, the figure, engulfed in flames, landed on the ground. Its burning arms were held by an unseen force, but to those with special eyes, it was clear there were bonds of light restraining the vampire.
"Die, vampire…" Ethan charged at the vampire, thrusting his sword into its heart.
"No!"
Regardless of the vampire’s plea, Ethan knew he couldn’t allow such an ancient being to live. His hand, enveloped in divine energy, caused his sword to shine in the eyes of the others as he smoothly pierced the vampire’s heart.
"You are one of them, a balance between good and evil." Morbius coughed up blood but felt no fear.
The surrounding darkness grew more intense. Ethan, his face stained with blood, extended his hand, and a black shadow began to envelop Morbius’s body, consuming him slowly.
"Die and be reborn as a better person. Death will surely forgive everything you’ve done in life," Ethan said as he gave the vampire a painless death.
"Ha, ha, ha… Do you think I can be forgiven?" Morbius spat a mouthful of blood, and as his body disintegrated, he murmured, "Thank you for believing that, even if it’s a lie."
As Morbius died, the remaining vampires were exterminated.
"I was just trying to be polite," Ethan said as his wounds healed before everyone’s eyes.
"Regent, shall we begin the cleanup operation?"
"Place the bombs as close as possible; we need to erase all evidence in this place," Ethan ordered, understanding they had little time to waste.
