Chapter 98: A Frightening Situation
Ethan went to see Lydia, while Scott stayed in the waiting room since he had many other things to deal with.
“Do you have any cash for the snack machine?” Scott seemed like a little kid, unable to stay still in one place.
Ethan looked at him and handed him a hundred dollars. He didn’t use cash often and only carried some to give away or use during missions.
But getting back to the important matter, he soon discovered one of the nearby towns had suffered some kind of blackout. It was near some mountains and had been out of contact for over fifteen hours.
“We’ll need to investigate this case. Get Deucalion to move his packs to track down any vampires and eliminate them if he finds any infiltrated in that town,” Ethan said, taking the situation seriously, knowing how many ways it could go wrong.
Ethan stood up, glanced at Scott, who was still struggling with the snack machine, and said, “I have to go. Tell Stiles we’ll talk later.”
“You’re leaving us alone?”
“You can take the truck. Someone will come to pick me up.”
...
Outside the hospital, Ethan ran into Sheriff Noah, who was talking to some other officers.
“I didn’t expect to see you here. My son mentions you often at dinner,” Noah said seriously. He didn’t want his son getting involved with a man who could put him in danger.
Ethan respected this, so he said, “I’ll be leaving town for a few weeks. You’ll be in contact with one of my subordinates. Everything will stay the same.”
There was no one outside at the moment, but soon several vehicles arrived.
After gathering the general information, Ethan had issued a very important mission that needed to be addressed as soon as possible: the extermination of dark entities—vampires, to be precise.
Noah watched as several people got out of the cars, carrying bags for Ethan to change into, and without paying attention to anyone, Ethan began to change in front of the vehicle.
“Another extermination mission?”
“Vampires. It seems a town a few hours from here is under attack, so I’m going to investigate,” Ethan said as he put on his red coat.
“Do you need backup?”
“They’re not ready to step into this hell. Spend more time with your son; focus less on work.” Ethan had to decline; he needed to handle this problem before it got worse.
“I have to go personally. I’ll take care of it without involving anyone who isn’t ready yet.” Ethan signed a tablet handed to him by one of the workers and gave it back.
“Should I alert my men?”
“A special team will accompany me. There’s no need to worry.” Ethan walked towards a waiting truck.
Ethan had a lot of respect for fathers who cared about their children. That’s how it was supposed to be, but it hadn’t been that way for him.
Respecting Noah, Ethan said, “The Light Association will handle this problem. For now, you don’t need to worry too much since there’s no danger in this town.”
“Sir, we’ve located the area where we suspect the enemies are hiding.” Ethan’s secretary handed him a tablet with the information.
Ethan took it, looked coldly at the location, and nodded. “Gentlemen, let’s step into hell and crush the demon.”
“Understood, Regent!”
Noah watched as ten trucks drove away and murmured, “Good luck, boys.”
