Halloween (2018) MOVIE REACTION! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!

We skip through all the other Halloween sequels and remakes and jump straight into Halloween (2018) as it is labelled a direct sequel to the original, do we think it is a better sequel then Halloween 2 (1981) do we even think it is better then the original??

Halloween (2018) MOVIE REACTION! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!

Comments

I really like Halloween 2018, probably my second favorite sequel. I do hope y'all get to halloween 4, its the best sequel in my opinion. Keep up the great work guys!

I was just happy that it turned out to be much better than I expected!

That does sound like a great premise! But it'd be a drama, not a horror. Indeed, it wouldn't even have to be about Laurie and Michael specifically. Love the idea, though.

Laurie and Micheal are connected only because when he first saw her in the original film when she dropped of the keys off she became a symbol of what his sister was. However, if you guys really want to get confused what Halloween H20. It also stars Jamie Lee but follows the sister story line and takes place 20 years later.

I’m psyched for this commentary

I kind of wish Laurie and Michael didn’t meet in the film, like Michael escapes and Laurie waits for him only to never show up. She spent 40 years obsessed with him but to him she was just another incidental thing. That would have added a bit of tragedy to Laurie’s character. I read a review that had that idea and liked that take.

I really love this sequel. I also liked H20 quite a bit -- the reason I like them both so much is Laurie and how her character evolves. H20 and this sequel answer the question: what happens to the final girl after she survives? I see it as being about how fate can't be avoided (to quote the first film). The murders that night traumatized the town, devoured Laurie's life, caused her to distrust and fear everything, and destroyed her family relationships. Then she is able to take some control back... but I guess we'll see for how long. Michael is a silent, relentless killer -- physically, mentally, and emotionally. And it's fun!

Halloween Kills carries on straight after this one, literally straight after. Can't wait. I'm with Tom on this one.

Halloween 2018 for me, did everything a perfect Halloween sequel should do. It took the story and expanded it while elevating every part of it. You’ll see a lot people say “Michael only killed 5 people in the first one” and “Laurie is way too over the top” but that’s kind of the point of the movie, and especially going into Halloween Kills. Loomis and Laurie were the only two people to see the potential of Michael/The Shape in the original movie. He literally got up from life threatening injuries 3 times like it was nothing. You also gotta remember that Friday the 13th/ A nightmare on elm street aren’t exactly based in reality where Halloween is. 5 people being murdered in 1978 was huge, and the movie even points out that by today’s standards it’s “nothing”. But Laurie still knows Michael isn’t fully human and he is much much more dangerous than the rest of the characters/ some of the audience go on about it. She might seem nuts in the movie but at the end of it she was right. Halloween Kills and Ends will continue on the same night after this so the potential she warned people about, as did Loomis will probably come through. Ona side note the movie deals with PTSD, there’s a great interview with Jamie Lee Curtis where she explains in 1978, mental health wasn’t as recognises as it is today. The system failed her and unfortunately that messed up her head even more. That actually happens to a lot of people in every day life, for Laurie she came face to face with pure evil, the boogeyman on top of all that. For me, it’s not as good as the original but it’s definitely the best directed and has the best story since 78. Also that adore is something else, probably as good as the original.

Dino Reviews

I think this movie was brilliant! Watched it just so I could watch the reaction unspoiled! I think it's got more to say than OG Halloween, but the original film feels more distinct to me still. I also found almost *all* of the characters to be really likeable in this, or at least very efficiently drawn. When the bodies started piling up I genuinely felt bad.

Also: you know you're a Halloween obsessive if you get annoyed when people type "H2O" instead of "H20". 🤣
