Which Heartstopper book is your favourite and why?
Added 2023-01-23 22:14:26 +0000 UTCGood evening beautiful people,
I have found myself finishing my first book of 2023 this evening (Fire & Blood which the TV show House of The Dragon is based on... very good! 7.5/10 from me!) and decided to pick up the Heartstopper Books as a little comfort read this evening and I found myself excited to be back in the Oseman-verse all over again and got to thinking... what is your favourite Heartstopper book and why?

2023-01-24 18:32:27 +0000 UTCI agree with Steve and Ruth. I think volume 1 is special because introduces us to the characters and their universe, but my favorite is volume 4 because it addresses the mental health issues in a sensitive and careful way. Especially thinking about young people, it's importante that they know it's ok if you are not ok and it's ok if you need to seek professional help and sometimes it will be important that you do. It's not just about therapy or friends or family... It's all that and it's a process.

2023-01-24 11:10:19 +0000 UTCIt depends on how volumes 3 and 4 are adapted for the screen as to whether or not a season 4 is needed for the final volume, volume 5 (although, of course , I hope we get another season) In season 1, volumes 1 and 2 were both covered. In theory, season 2 could also cover more than one volume, maybe including some of volume 4 as well, leaving season 3 to cover the rest of volume 4 and all of 5? Will Alice also want to include any of the ‘This Winter’ and ‘Nick and Charlie’ novella material? In a way, as Steve says, I think it would be preferable to have fewer seasons and keep the quality, but I am hoping that some excerpts from those books are included.

2023-01-24 08:10:35 +0000 UTCI am torn between volume 3 and volume 4, because I love the Paris trip and the scenes between Charlie and Nick in the hotel room and the teachers getting together, but in the end, I agree with Steve about volume 4. It’s very tough to read and my goodness, it will be agony at times on screen, but it’s also very hopeful and expresses a powerful message that even when, like Charlie, you can’t believe that you could get better, there is help available and the people you love will support you.

2023-01-24 08:09:31 +0000 UTCI love Volume 4 because Charlie’s mental illness is dealt with so honestly. It does not sugar-coat the pit of misery Charlie’s been living in, but it also shows him finding hope for healing he had never thought possible. He finds it through Nick. Nick’s terrible fear for Charlie is clear, but his great love for Charlie gives both of them strength. I’m so glad young people are reading this. They need to know.

2023-01-23 23:51:22 +0000 UTCI would rather see the show end cleanly than see it dragged out for season after season, all in pursuit of profit, until it is a sad shadow of what it once was.

2023-01-23 23:51:04 +0000 UTCIt’s hard for me to pick a book because I’ve only read them in the online versions, and I’m not always sure where one book ends, and the next one begins. So I guess I have to pick the last option!

2023-01-23 23:00:15 +0000 UTCI’m sure Alice herself said that Vol 5 was going to be the last book 😢
Audrey Gunn
2023-01-23 22:44:36 +0000 UTCI can’t wait for Vol 5 either but I think I like Vol 3 the best as it brings us to Paris, Tao and Elle getting together, the party in the hotel room and the teachers getting together ❤️

2023-01-23 22:40:15 +0000 UTCI really hope volume 5 is not the last. It'll be too sad to let these characters go.

2023-01-23 22:39:15 +0000 UTCI think a s4 can be done since Heartstopper is cheap to produce for Netflix and if s2 and s3 still garners the same amount of audience as s1 did (or better audience views in the first few weeks), they will definitely tag on a s4 to be the final season.
Kong Chang
2023-01-23 22:38:26 +0000 UTCi think alice said they are hoping for at least a season 4 to be able to fit everything from the comics as s2 will be volume 3, s3 will be volume 4 and s4 will be volume 5

2023-01-23 22:29:51 +0000 UTCI think it is too! I’m sure I read that somewhere 😭

2023-01-23 22:27:37 +0000 UTCI think Volume 5 is the final book!

2023-01-23 22:26:05 +0000 UTCWell, it all depends on Alice if she can crank out volume 6 and 7 in the mean time when season 3 comes out.
Kong Chang
2023-01-23 22:23:47 +0000 UTCthis makes me sad though because i feel like this means Season 3 will be the end :(

2023-01-23 22:19:22 +0000 UTCCan't wait for Volume 5 as Alice said she needs to finish it before Season 3 comes out.
