Reacting To SKAM Season 3 - Episode 3

Hey beautiful people... thanks for bearing with me on this one! Enjoy the latest instalment of our boys! ❤️

Comments

YOU MISSED THE LOOK. :-(

Henrik Schröder

Yes - great advice! Thank you Michael. The text does go by fast!

Bekki Babineau

Hi Bekki - it's also well worth carefully reading all the mobile phone texts that appear quite regularly as there are important messages in a lot of those. I had to freeze frame the video on occasions to give me time to read what was typed, as very often the translation wasn't held on the screen long enough for me to read it before the message disappeared!

Michael

I'm so glad I watched season 1 and 2 before season 3. It gives much more context to all the characters who appear in season 3 in small doses. For me, this episode was the turning point for really liking season 3. Season 4 is really good too, as it follows one of the other characters, Sana. By the way, the actor who plays Eskild (Isak's gay roomie), has a major part in the newly release Netflix film "Marvik".

I love both YR and SKAM but I found it easier to get engaged in YR the first time I watched it while I had to stop and rewind several times when watching SKAM for the first time to fully get all details/text messeges etc. AND even If I would love to get 100 episodes of both shows I very much enyoy that the seasons are short, leaving no room for ”fillers” and making every second interesting. I have re-watched them both several times actually without ever feeling bored…

JLouise

😂 Yes! You’re right on all counts. I am getting excited about the next season of Heartstopper and re-reading the graphic novels beforehand.

Don’t feel guilty about it – you like what you like, and you can’t make yourself like something that doesn’t click with you. I’ve certainly watched shows that other people raved about and that I just couldn’t get into. Besides, I’ve got enough enthusiasm for Skam for both of us!

Lane Wright

Yes, it’s a good thing although I feel vaguely guilty somehow for not being more enthusiastic about SKAM.😬 I will be back in the YR Patreon exclusives comments.

The usual thing for me - if I see a character/actor that I fancy, then I want to find out all about them in their real life by searching for interviews on the internet - stay at home stalking I guess! 😂 But I'm sure I'm not the only one here that does that sort of thing, so I've seen just pretty much all the interviews etc. that are possible to see for Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Edvin Ryding, Omar Rudberg and now these two from SKAM, Tarjei Sandvik Moe and Henrik Holm. Tarjei is a bit more difficult to find any info about him as he has said that he doesn't like the limelight outside of acting and tends to keep himself to himself. But there are a few TV interviews where he opens up a bit and one can slowly get a picture of his background. Henrik is a bit more forthcoming with his background, but I won't give links to any interviews here just in case any spoilers are revealed - not a good idea at this stage of the proceedings as we are only on episode 3 so far. Personally, my favourite types of videos are the ad hoc ones that are taken in the street either by the papparazi or by the general public at things like red carpet events. Sadly, those types of videos are very few and far between with the stars of HS/YR/SKAM. For example, I like the videos of Edvin and Omar arriving and leaving the Tonight Show studios in New York a few weeks ago. Hopefully, that won't be the last time that we see them like that.

Michael

"...But we all react to art in different and very personal ways, and that’s a good thing, I think". Perfect, Lane! 😊 My fav show is YR, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate Heartstopper or Skam. It's just a different feeling.

Ingrid Machado Pena

I really want to say more about why I love this show so much, but I can’t really do it without spoiling what comes in future episodes. When we get to the end of this season, I will certainly talk about why this show in particular had such an impact on me. But I certainly realize that not everybody is going to relate to every show in the same way. (The varied reactions to the remakes of “Skam,” and particularly of this season, show that people can react very differently to the same material.) To be honest, it really took the second season of “Young Royals” for me to get as emotionally invested in the characters as I have, and even then it doesn’t quite hit me in the same way that either “Skam” or “Heartstopper” does. That doesn’t mean I don’t really like it or its cast, because I do. But we all react to art in different and very personal ways, and that’s a good thing, I think.

Lane Wright

Just to add that (without giving any spoilers) in episode 4 the first 5 minutes of the show are a little bit boring in my view, but after that the show really takes off and starts to progress with a very memorable scene towards the end of the episode which apparently was difficult to film with health and safety crew on standby keeping a very close eye on proceedings. Well, I hope that's wetted the appetite of those who are keen on seeing the show but haven't yet seen it.

Michael

Yes, I kind of like that his friends seem a bit superficial in the beginning. I feel like they did that on purpose to make a point, about not judging a book by its cover..

annanas

Yeah, maybe that’s it, that it’s slow moving and I got accustomed to the tightly scripted, densely connected drama of Young Royals and have immersed myself in all the other related content out there from season 1 and 2. I also feel really engaged with Omar and Edvin as themselves as well as with Simon and Wilhelm and their story. To a lesser extent, I felt this way about Kit, Joe and the Charlie and Nick story. Just not feeling it with the admittedly cute guys in SKAM, nor any investment in the other more minor characters. Oh wel…

Graham & Ruth May

Joanas is worried about Isak as he has known Isak for a long time and it was spoken about in the 1st series that Isak's mum has mental health issues and his parents split during the 1st series leaving Isak with his mum while her mental health got worse. Isak has moved out of home by this series. His mum always sends him bible verses by text. There is a lot of symbolysm in this show and you have to pay attention to the small details as they are important. I like Isak friends they are just teenage boys and talk like a lot of boys do they are generally harmless.

Jayne Riley

We can't all like the same shows some series will not suit you. I love Skam and cried when S4 ended as I was so invested in the characters. However I haven't wanted to find out as much about the actors as I did with Young Royals. I think because I watched the show from the 1st series and read all the texts and social media posts from the actors I felt like they were real people. The series is slow moving with lots of silent moments in it and shows the characters just thinking, texting and looking things up.

Jayne Riley

I am with Audrey, not because I dozed off, 😂 but because I think the parts where they are together are good and I can see they are good actors- but I am not at all bothered about the rest of the characters and find a few of them very irritating. Not committed to watching further episodes apart from a mild curiosity to see what happens for the guys. Not really a turning point episode for me. I can’t see myself getting sufficiently invested in even that central relationship to definitely watch the remaining episodes. Sorry, guys, please forgive me but my feelings are not engaged. Must be just me, and the Young Royals ‘We are going to ruin other shows for you forever’ effect. Hope I am still able to enjoy Heartstopper season 2! 😬

Graham & Ruth May

oh my word that is so interesting!!

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Lane - you beat me to it. I was just about to say how I laughed at Isak's facial expression when the girls where dancing. I've never seen anyone so disinterested on what was going on. It was the contrast between Isak's face and the other guys' expressions that was funny.

Michael

A few thoughts: Aluminum Technology sounds like a good name for a band. I second the recommendation that you pay attention to every time Isak is at his locker, for the reason that Bekki mentioned. One of the things I love in this episode is the way the other guys are all looking spellbound by the dancing girls, while look on Isak’s face says, “I just don’t get it.” Isak is very good at turning on the charm when he needs to, and he’s cute enough that he gets away with it most of the time, but it’s very much a defense mechanism. I also love how quick Even is to read the room and cover the return of Isak’s hat when it’s clear Isak is at a loss for words. And yes, Noora’s return is a major part of an ongoing story arc that spans the seasons before and after this one. By the way, if you think the way Magnus was creepy talking about dreaming that Vilde was a dominatrix, he is nowhere near as creepy as Basile, the version of Magnus in Skam France. Actually, Magnus has an innocence and basic sweetness that makes him much more likable over the course of the season.

Lane Wright

I don't remember if anyone had brought up the locker metaphor for Isak. I apologize if I'm repeating info already shared... In Norwegian, the word for closet, as in "coming out of the closet" can also mean locker, and Isak's locker is a continuous metaphor for his state. The first time we see it, he's cramming his books in, has trouble closing it, and finally slams it shut. After this, he asks Emma to come to his party. Keep an eye on this throughout the rest of the season!

Bekki Babineau

That's Noora at the end. She was the centre of last season, a really likable character, but she is so different when viewed through Isak's eyes.... She used to live in Isak's room but moved to London.

annanas

It was Noora at the end of the episode - the S2 character that was focused on. She had been out of the country w/ her boyfriend. They video-called her earlier in the season with Eskild.

Bridget

Thank you very much for the shoutout, it’s a privilege to be able to support you and your channel. Xx. As for the episode, I have to say that once again I dozed off in the middle but I did see the end where they were almost about to kiss but got interrupted by a random girl, anyone know who she is??? Anyway, that was annoying because I thought it was about to get good. I like the parts when the two of them are alone together, not really bothered that much about the other characters.
