Reacting To Omar Rudberg on the Reign Podcast

Good evening Beautiful people,

Firstly, thank you so much for all your love and support the past few months since Skye got sick. It hasn't gone unnoticed and it's really helped get me through.

Lastly, here's another Patreon exclusive with one of our favourites!! ❤️

Comments

The Alperton Angels is REALLY good, though! About half way through and I can’t guess what the outcome will be…🤔

Graham & Ruth May

One Night in Hartswood is a bit of an excuse for some thigh-slapping medieval male romps in castles and forests, without much talent to recommend the writing, unfortunately! Quite unintentionally amusing in parts! 😂

Graham & Ruth May

Oh my goodness! I did not expect that! (Not really sure why) Would be very interested to hear what you think of it once you have finished it, Audrey.

Graham & Ruth May

I will do Michael, might take me a while to get through it though!

Audrey Gunn

Audrey - it would be interesting to know what you think of it. Maybe you would like to put your thoughts on here after you've read it?

Michael

I’ve decided to do a complete switch in style for my next book and am reading the highly controversial book by Prince Harry - Spare

Audrey Gunn

This new British GQ Interview of Joe & Kit reacting to scenes from Heartstopper (including Nick's coming out scene) is incredibly beautiful, heart warming and makes me teery-eyed: https://youtu.be/pKvyQ-h-PX4 I would love to see you react to our boys reacting to themselves & watch their beautiful commentary on this.

Megan Brady

I envy you reading Fingersmith for the first time, it’s that good! x

Graham & Ruth May

Shall add them all to my list xxx

Audrey Gunn

Also, Audrey, forgot to remind you about Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, one of the best dark, twisty tales and also an absorbing LGBTQ+ love story. ❤️x

Graham & Ruth May

LGBTQ+ can’t get my letters in order this morning…🙄

Graham & Ruth May

Also, just got One Night in Hartswood by Emma Denny, an LBGTQ+ romance. I will let you know what it’s like. Also got The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels by Janice Hallett, which looks good. I read The Twyford Code by her a while ago and that was excellent. 🤞

Graham & Ruth May

I echo that, Lane. I too was a teenager then and all I can recall about LGBTQ+ representation at the time is that I don’t think there was any in my part of the world except for the worst possible kind occasionally on tv, where you might see over-the-top camp stereotypes in a comedy show in an unpleasantly smutty sort of send up. Bear in mind that in the UK, there was also a ‘family’ show on tv at peak times called The Black and White Minstrel Show which featured white singers blacking up, which at the time was held up as ‘entertainment’. It beggars belief now.

Graham & Ruth May

Oh, I am really glad you enjoyed it, Audrey but it does weave around a bit. I love books like that, though, as it makes me concentrate on working out what is really going on in the different threads. Love Richard, the narrator who just can’t separate his need to belong to the cool group from the horror of what is right under his nose and how he is being played by Henry until it’s too late…

Graham & Ruth May

Flitting, not flirting!!

Audrey Gunn

Ruth, I can’t find the post we were talking about it in but I have just finished the book you recommended, The Secret History by Donna Tart, I had to really concentrate because of the way it kept flirting all over the place but I loved it ❤️ thanks for the recommendation xx

Audrey Gunn

This was a really good start to my day, the incomparably beautiful Omar and my favourite reactor. 😊 I am pretty sure that there is a full length earlier interview of Omar with Josh somewhere, because he originally did ones of similar length with Edvin and Omar. If I find it, I will post it. I love how Edvin and Omar talk about each other with such respect, love and humour. I think the line which Ingrid singles out is important because the trust really does show on screen and is part of what makes their relationship off screen also so special. I also think that many people take comfort in hearing Omar, of all people, who is so conventionally attractive…well, ok, in my opinion, completely and utterly gorgeous 🫠😂…talking about his body insecurities. I miss the boys, too, Jackie, in case you can’t tell! x ❤️👑❤️

Graham & Ruth May

That's brilliant Ingrid - thanks for that.

Michael

Here we go, Michael. It's a transcript. Hopefully it's complete and correct. https://docs.google.com/file/d/1yOQr3XDiLskjp9Hixnb0n8RCZy5Skne8/edit?filetype=msword

Ingrid Machado Pena

Just to add, sadly the English translation is no longer there in the final 14 minutes of the video/audio. Hopefully, they will be able to correct that as I feel that this is a hugely interesting talk from Edvin.

Michael

That's an amazing content, Michael. Thank you for posting it here. =)

I just had surgery and can't focus on anything long form right now, so this was a lovely little treat. Having some regret that I've already watched all the YR interviews now that I need low key distraction for a week!

Rowan Cannell

I've just come across this which is a 1 hour talk by Edvin on his life in the real world after 'Young Royals' was released. It's the most in-depth talk that I have heard so far from Edvin and he goes into great detail about his life and how his appearance in the show and the resulting public reaction has affected him and his mental heath. There is no interviewer. Edvin just conveys his thoughts to us in a sort of a one man podcast. Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere on here, but if you haven't heard it, then it's well worth the listen if any of you are Edvin fans (which is most of you I guess). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Fgfft0q-0 If this particular video (audio only with a picture) has been posted previously, then I will delete this message.

Michael

It's just the audio, but I think it is the full version of it. https://youtu.be/k8suIlU6Y0g

Ingrid Machado Pena

Love this, I must go check out the actual podcast as I want to hear the whole thing as well!! Poor Omar does not realise how sexy he really is but then again, who does? I’m sure everyone has something they don’t like about themselves.

Audrey Gunn

I remember noticing when I first watched both of them that the video of Edvīn’s interview was about the same length as the audio version, but Omar’s video was about half as long as the audio version. So it’s worth seeking out the audio podcast for that extra material. As to what you were saying about not having something like this when you were growing up, that’s even more true for someone like me who was a teenager in the early 70s. Not only was there nothing like this, but the representation of LGBTQ+ people was anything from nonexistent to mostly negative. I’m so glad that young people have shows like this now to give them representation.

Lane Wright

Thanks for this, Jackie! And yes, there is a longer version. Omar is adorable! When he said he feels safe with Edvin, my heart just melted. ♥️
