2023-03-06 23:19:27 +0000 UTCAh ok Ruth - as you say, Edvin may have been talking about his own future career rather than the 'Young Royals' storyline for season 3.
Michael
2023-03-06 22:37:29 +0000 UTCYes I saw this but I thought it had started to calm down. I think it's a combination of several different things. People can be very intrusive and forget that he can see a lot of what they post even if they don't tag him in it.

2023-03-06 21:00:53 +0000 UTCYes, Edvin, Malte and Nikita were getting a lot of hate because of this post situation. But especially Edvin. He even received some death threats.
Ingrid Machado Pena
2023-03-06 20:59:40 +0000 UTCThanks for the update, Jayne. I thought Omar would have been checking on Edvin and it’s a good thing that Edvin is off Twitter for the moment. See my reply to Michael, if you don’t already know the background, about which Ingrid knows a bit more than I do.

2023-03-06 20:50:49 +0000 UTCI am not sure if Edvin is referring to himself or to the show. Maybe both, but we won’t know if it’s the show until the pre-publicity starts up probably in the late summer if season 3 drops in the autumn/early winter? There’s been some online hate because of the cast posting support for Rojdja’s (probably mis-spelling by me, sorry) support for the earthquake victims and mistakenly they didn’t refer to Turkey but to disputed territory. The haters came after them, but not Omar, because he was the only one who did specify Turkey. Very confused situation and I am glad that Edvin is off social media at least for the time being.

2023-03-06 20:48:30 +0000 UTCIt seems Ingrid was right about Edvin he has apparently deactivated twitter because of some toxic fans on there apparently Omar has said Edvin is fine.
Jayne Riley
2023-03-06 20:23:46 +0000 UTCOk, but still a bit concerning though. I wonder if he's feeling, now having read the script, that he's worried that the fans may not like the way the story progresses or even finishes. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
Michael
2023-03-06 19:53:08 +0000 UTCYes, I think that’s probably what it is, too, Jayne. 🤞👑❤️
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-06 15:15:57 +0000 UTCI saw what Edvin had tweeted I wouldn't take his tweets too seriously it may be nothing. I think twitter fans sometimes read to much in to things I don't think it's anything to worry about. He could be teasing the fans as people seem to think he was reading the script for s3 over the weekend.

2023-03-06 14:01:44 +0000 UTCIt’s all happening for Omar, but according to recent posts that Ingrid shared with me yesterday, Edvin is maybe not feeling so positive. Hope that once seasons 3 starts filming, he’ll be caught up in that.
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-06 13:54:36 +0000 UTCOmar update he is in LA to write some songs and to have meetings. He is also releasing a club version of I'm so excited that he performed at the QX gay gala.

2023-03-06 11:23:28 +0000 UTCYes she is beautiful she has her own business offering health and nutrition planning and has published books. I will say she is a good advert for her business.

2023-03-05 17:22:31 +0000 UTCThat's a good edit too. It puts a smile on my face every time. They are adorable! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVKn3EP974o ❤️👑❤️
Ingrid Machado Pena
2023-03-05 17:19:41 +0000 UTCYes, she’s a very strong and rather beautiful individual from what I’ve seen of her and Omar talks about how she’s been important in his life in various interviews, especially the ones we all shared links for that took place after season 1.
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-05 17:10:26 +0000 UTCOops, completely swallowed up by such stuff, but he’s savvy to make the money off Young Royals fame while it’s still strong and he seems clued up enough to know how to handle it. 🤞
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-05 17:07:05 +0000 UTCYes, I believe they are lucrative. Just hope Omar doesn’t get comp,

2023-03-05 16:54:08 +0000 UTCYes Ruth Omar has a fragrance deal with Valentino. I believe those kinds of deals are good money.

2023-03-05 16:28:23 +0000 UTCI've seen them Michael I follow his Mum on Instagram she seems fun. Her name is Wilnur Rudberg she always posts stories on there.
Jayne Riley
2023-03-05 16:25:28 +0000 UTCThanks Ruth - I've just noticed that there are quite a few video shorts possibly taken by Omar's Mum (Daniela Perez is it?) of things like Omar meeting his extended family at airports and Christmas get-togethers and playing on swings - stuff like that. Interesting footage. I think maybe they were originally uploaded to Instagram or Twitter or some such platform and then transferred to YouTube.

2023-03-05 13:08:52 +0000 UTCWell, I know what (or should I say who) I would rather be watching! ❤️👑❤️ I think you would too! If you want an extra treat, there’s some footage of Omar at Paris fashion week on YouTube and it looks as if he’s got himself a perfume promoting deal, too. I would have thought he was fragrant enough already. 🫠.

2023-03-05 13:07:18 +0000 UTCActually watching this has given me a wonderful break from observing a contractor unblock my drains this morning. I lead an exciting life! 😊

2023-03-05 07:32:43 +0000 UTCI can't wait to see the reaction to this episode.
Jayne Riley
2023-03-04 17:07:23 +0000 UTCWell, of course I have no inside information. The production values were so high with Kenny Ortega at the helm that it may have been just too expensive in the eyes of Netflix. Or, it may have been viewership although, it sure was popular. It was just a great show, well done and I'm sorry it didn't continue. There is a huge fan following to this day. The metrics of Netflix are beyond human comprehension.
Dennis Verner
2023-03-04 16:03:00 +0000 UTCMeanwhile. episode 8? Effin' adorable!
Michael
2023-03-04 14:53:56 +0000 UTCYou think the subplot is the reason it didn’t get renewed?? That would be so upsetting!! LOVED the subplot - a subplot that felt like a main plot al its own!
Laura Ibarra
2023-03-04 13:27:19 +0000 UTCJackie, you were asking for suggestions for future content. I'm going to suggest something a little offbeat for you. A Netflix show called Julie and the Phantoms dropped in September of 2020, produced and directed by Kenny Ortega of High School Musical fame. It was advertised as a young teen show but is really more sophisticated than that with a minor LGTB sub plot. (It's my opinion that that sub plot is what kept it from being renewed for a second season.) It's really extremely well produced, great music (I think you will be blown away by the production numbers) and has some of the most talented young performers ever. At least, take a look. Still there on Netflix. It is pure joy (with a bit of angst.)
Dennis Verner
2023-03-04 00:30:07 +0000 UTCYes Audrey, I loved that scene as well and found it hilarious.
Michael
2023-03-03 17:45:43 +0000 UTCAnd also that scene of him trying to get them all out of the house was so funny 😂
Audrey Gunn
2023-03-03 17:41:41 +0000 UTCI’m so glad to see his friends supporting him and even giving him advice on what to do and say to him in the text. I too had a feeling Jackie that he was going to just turn up at the house 😊😊 I really hope that this time Even doesn’t shut down again and they talk about their feelings, after they do what they are so obviously are about to do!!) After a reluctant start I am starting to enjoy these and look forward to the next one as I am watching along with you and not jumping ahead 😉
Audrey Gunn
2023-03-03 17:40:56 +0000 UTCI ALWAYS have Young Royals on the brain! 😂❤️x
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-03 09:51:43 +0000 UTCI clearly had Young Royals on the brain!! 🤣👀
Jackie-Ross Lavender
2023-03-03 09:47:18 +0000 UTCYou got my hopes up with that title error, Jackie!😂👑❤️
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-03 09:46:24 +0000 UTCI get that some sequences may seem random, like the conversation between Isak and Sana in the classroom, but everything is there for a reason and the development of their friendship is an important bridge to season 4 (don’t know if you plan to watch that but..)
annanas
2023-03-03 08:00:18 +0000 UTCLove you,Dennis! 😂❤️
Graham & Ruth May
2023-03-03 07:29:53 +0000 UTCGet ready guys - episode 9 is the one!!!
Michael
2023-03-03 03:35:47 +0000 UTC3:25! I see you caught it in the edit. It's Young Royals that counts. 😋
Dennis Verner
2023-03-03 01:16:58 +0000 UTCI think he is really astounding, especially considering that he was actually the age of the character. His performance is very subtle, and he conveys so much with just his facial expressions. I may have said this before, but to me he, Edvin Ryding, and Kit Conner all share in common the ability to convey a great deal, even without words.
Lane Wright
2023-03-03 00:33:02 +0000 UTCYes, Tarjei Sandvik Moe plays the part of Isak really well. All the little nuances and subtle expressions are really well done.
Michael
2023-03-03 00:09:23 +0000 UTCYes, ideally it's definitely a 'binge-watch' type of show, or at least one episode per night.
Michael
2023-03-03 00:05:39 +0000 UTCI don't think it's true to say there hasn't been any progress. Since the start of the series 3 Isak and Evan have met and established a connection. Isak has accepted himself a lot more and come out to his friends. Skam is a lot more real than heartstopper or young royals I do think you miss someone of the understanding of the characters as you are starting at s3 . I know why people voted for you to watch S3 but I always think you miss something by doing that even though Evan, Magnus and Mahdi are not in the first two series. Also I understand your dislike of the F word but I think his friends are realistic 17 year old boys they will make ignorant remarks and say offensive words but they mean well and are supportive of Isak. The original concept of the show was aimed at educating young people and a lot of reaserch was done with real teenagers before filming. The characters also have social media accounts which were active during the show and text messages were published to give more background.
Jayne Riley
2023-03-03 00:03:36 +0000 UTCI agree with your sentiments Jackie, but I do like the realism of the conversations in this show. It's the sort of banter that you would expect if you were there. I think that they have to use the 'f' word (as they did in 'Heartstopper') as that's what you would almost certainly hear occasionally in a school environment. I guess the script writers were trying to keep things real. It's almost filmed like a documentary where the camera is hidden - sort of a 'fly-on-the-wall' type situation. The hand held camera movement feels as if someone in the room is filming everyone, but no one really notices and I think that's the purpose of this method of filming. The final scene here where Isak desperately tries to get everyone out of the room and the clever interaction of all the conversations happening at the same time was very well done and I found it highly amusing. The one thing that I've never really understood personally is why would anyone want to compare one show with another show? I just look at them as separate shows completely and enjoy all three of them for their individual merits. For me, they are all charming for different reasons.
Michael
2023-03-03 00:03:11 +0000 UTCMe too.
Douglas Rayner
2023-03-02 23:47:58 +0000 UTCI binge watched all 5 seasons in anticipation of your plans to react to season 3. I must say it really helps with the context of the episodes in this season, and watching pretty quickly does provide continuity. That said, I'm really liking seeing season 3 again with you all.
Douglas Rayner
2023-03-02 23:46:46 +0000 UTCyeah I really don’t think it helps to watch a show like SKAM as slowly as I have either. Probably makes it feel even more drawn out!
Jackie-Ross Lavender
2023-03-02 23:42:03 +0000 UTCYeah I always forget how to distinguish between them. Isak really has no chill 🤣 bloody adore him.
Jackie-Ross Lavender
2023-03-02 23:41:40 +0000 UTCSo you asked … Pansexual is an attraction to the person without thought to gender Bisexual is an attraction to more than one gender I am attracted to multiple genders but the gender is part of the attraction whereas it would not be a part of my attraction if I was Pan. It is not a clear line and generally is just down to which label you feel best fits you. Also Isak has no idea how to play hard to get. Smiley faces and puppy dog eyes and he just gives it up. Not complaining but it is amusing to see how gone he already is.
Rosie Dickinson
2023-03-02 23:39:20 +0000 UTCSince by now you must’ve watched the next episode, you will know that things definitely happen! To me, the show has sort of an almost documentary, slice of life feel to it, and I find that very intriguing and real. I do love the way Isak’s friend group rallies around him and supports him, even when they don’t always show the most educated points of view. By the way, the point of the scene at the lockers is that for the first time he is able to open it without any problems at all, because he is now finally out in a way he hasn’t been previously. I do think this is a season that you have to take as a whole, and once you get to the end, you see how the pieces fit together, and exactly the right way for this story. There is a progression, but it happens more in real time than is true in many shows, and when you get to the end, I think you will be able to see that progression better than you can while you’re in the middle of it.
