Weekend Update - March 11th 2023

Good afternoon beautiful people ❤️

Hope you're all having an incredible weekend. I've had a very restful but productive weekend thus far. I have spent the majority of my time filming and editing but also taking huge steps forward in terms of moving into content creation.

Back in 2018 when I last went full-time for freelance photography I operated under the name of "Faded Visuals" but it didn't feel right to relaunch that same company. I wanted something new and more me... so I am rebranding under "Jack Ross Media" and I have spent most of the Weeknd rebuilding the website and organising all the social channels etc but still got a long way to go. Hoping to have the website up and running by the end of the week.

it's a lot of work but I am super excited about it! Thank god I've been through it all before so I remember how frustrating and fiddly it can be getting everything up and running... especially when you are doing it all yourself.

Other than that - I am getting very excited as Reiss is finally home in 9 days! It's been a long time coming but also feels like it's suddenly just arrived on our doorstep. He's only home for a month so will be making the most of our time together and we have booked a much needed holiday to Portugal for a week just the two of us. I cannot wait to be in the sun and eating all the beautiful Portuguese food!

With that in mind - I am looking ahead to the video schedule so I can start pre-filming content to keep a stead flow coming out while I am spending a couple of weeks with Reiss... so what would you like to see come after SKAM? I will considering looking to the other seasons of SKAM just not immediately after this series. Vote below:

Comments

Understood. But I would just add that I think awkward is real and natural, as well as (in the show and often in life too) very funny.

Graham & Ruth May

I REALLY wanted to like it (and I like parts of it) but I just can’t do awkward. And there’s more than a little of that from the episodes I’ve seem :-)

Tyler Spaeth

It was super cute and a lot of fun (YMMV ;-))

Tyler Spaeth

They are also really good, and the B-day video..

annanas

The bloopers to all three seasons of Sex Education are on YouTube and are hilarious. 😂

Graham & Ruth May

I think the season 4 bloopers beat it but they are pretty good

Rosie Dickinson

Since you have finished S3 of Skam, it’s also the time to record Skam S3 Bloopers.. I seriously think it’s my favorite thing on the internet 🫠

annanas

I’ll add in my two cents and say that I like Sex Education a lot and would definitely enjoy a reaction to it. It’s sometimes fairly graphic, but since this is Patreon, that shouldn’t be a problem. And it’s both very funny and often very touching.

Lane Wright

It looks like if I watch it all, then I'll be going to bed at 5am!!

Michael

I won't be able to watch the whole ceremony because it will be a bit late for me. I have to be up at 5am for work. ☹️

Ingrid Machado Pena

Well, who's watching the Oscars tonight? I'll be tuning in at 11pm (UK time) which is when the red carpet starts. I'll be following it on Sky as I think the coverage is better and more detailed than the BBC.

Michael

I watched it. I enjoyed it.

Jayne Riley

Ha ha. You’re not wrong about that. I have just been gardening in the pouring rain and high winds that Tintagel seems to specialise in. 🙄

Graham & Ruth May

Same to you, Michael and yes, we are. 😊

Graham & Ruth May

'It's A Sun' - you'd have to point it out to us Ruth because we don't seem to be able to locate it these days! 😊

Michael

😊 Respect to you Ruth and your views. We are both on the same wavelength with 'Heartstopper' and 'Young Royals' I think.

Michael

I guess it just wasn’t your thing, then. I frequently howled with laughter, but as I said before, I enjoyed the serious aspects of it as well. Everyone is different; I don’t enjoy SKAM anything like as much as I know you definitely do, but I can see why people would rate it. Just as well we’re not all the same, or this would be a very boring Patreon! 😉

Graham & Ruth May

The first season was good, but I gave up after watching a bit of the first episode of the 2nd season. I prefer sex scenes to be done more tastefully. I know it was supposed to be funny, but I didn't find it so and just felt it an uncomfortable watch if I'm honest.

Michael

I adore Queer as Folk, I just watched it again recently 😊😊

Audrey Gunn

That would be a 'YES' from me Franziska.

Michael

I'm going to start it today! 😊

Ingrid Machado Pena

It's really good! It may be a bit weird at first but then it gets better and better and better. ♥️

Ingrid Machado Pena

Yeah! Sex Education it's great. The first episodes maybe a bit weird and then it gets better and better and better. I was laughing and crying and crying again and laughing. It's worth watching for sure!

Ingrid Machado Pena

Give it a go. You need to get to the middle of season 1 in my opinion. And then there’s Queer As Folk, another great show. I could rave about that forever, but I won’t! 😂x

Graham & Ruth May

I've never attempted Sex Education as it doesn't look like my kind of thing even though it's been recommended many times by people!

Audrey Gunn

Sin not sun! Typo!

Graham & Ruth May

And It’s A Sun is beyond everything as a show that was groundbreaking and really changed perceptions of the AIDS crisis. Yes, it’s tragic and not an easy watch but my God, it’s so we’ll acted and poignant. My daughter was blown away by it when I recommended it to her and said, ‘I just never realised’.

Graham & Ruth May

Persevere. I too wasn’t sure about what I thought of it at first as it initially seemed an odd mix of American and British but I sat through it until mid-way through season 1 and then I saw the genius of the writing and admired how it pulls off comedy and serious issues. Season 2 and 3 are wonderful. Season 4 may be the last as some of the cast are getting way too old to portray teenagers!

Graham & Ruth May

I’ve tried to watch Sex Education twice but couldn’t get through the first episode… guess I need to give it another bash for the patreon!

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Just to add to the comments about Sex Education, I would love to see you react to that. It’s very funny (and comedy is difficult to get just right) but also really good at representing the issues that are sometimes treated so heavy-handedly. The cast are first-class and the writing is excellent in my opinion. Season 4 is due out sometime this year.

Graham & Ruth May

Has anyone seen the new Spanish show Smiley yet? I love it

Kim Engel

Talking about Sex Education I would love to see a reaction to this show. Can't wait for S4. 😊

Ingrid Machado Pena

Could we add Its A Sin to your poll choices Jackie?? If not this one then another one in the future?

Audrey Gunn

We've probably seen the same episode. I lost count on how many reactions I've seen and cried every single time. 😁

Ingrid Machado Pena

I would love to see Season 4 of Skam (but I really think you would benefit of watchig 1 & 2 first, at least on your own). I saw someone mentioned It’s a sin, witch reminded me of the Swedish series ”Don´t ever wipe tears.." It’s beautiful (but sad), and it’s set in Stocholm! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2399776/

annanas

I have to choose Heartbreak High because it’s an Aussie show 💜 🇦🇺 And the representation is great, it gives me hope for my kids’ future. Looking is one of my all-time faves. Love, Victor was excellent at the time it was released. Last of Us I’ve only seen one episode, and about 10 reactions to that episode 😁

Kim Engel

Yes, It’s a Sin is a brilliant show that my daughter (who’s 25) credits with opening her eyes to the tragedy unfolding before she was born. I would put in an extra vote for that and Olly Alexander is amazing, as are all the cast, really.

Graham & Ruth May

Well, I've voted for 'Love Victor'. Although I saw the film, I haven't yet seen the TV series, so this would be a good opportunity to watch it for the first time as well as following Jackie's reviews of it.

Michael

I agree with Its a Sin, amazing but tragic show. It did introduce me to Olly Alexander though 😊❤️

Audrey Gunn

I found looking really hard going but I loved the actors so want to give it another shot. I guess my second choice would be heartbreak high though but I know very little about it.

Rosie Dickinson

I voted for The Last of Us. I don't know if I've ever watched a show as brilliantly written, shot and acted and one that affected me as profoundly as it has. Looking is a great series, and I adore Jonathan Groff and Murray Bartlett. It's a Sin is also a great, albeit tragic show. Even if you don't react to The Last of Us, I do hope you watch it.

jennifer

There are three Thai shows that I really love with same-sex love stories: “Bad Buddy,” “Vice Versa,” and “Moonlight Chicken.” They are all available on YouTube with English subtitles. Of the three, I would probably start with “Bad Buddy,” which is the one they got me started watching these shows from Thailand. Thai shows have some interesting quirks (blatant product placement (though it’s often handled quite cleverly) and cartoonish sound effects that you will get used to and stop noticing after a while), but they are really engaging and often have a nice mix of serious and comic elements.

Lane Wright

Yes, Lane. The third episode of "The Last of Us" is phenonenal.

Ingrid Machado Pena

what are your other shows?

Jackie-Ross Lavender

There are a couple of other shows I would pick over any of these, but I went with the one I’ve already seen, which is “Love, Victor.” From what I understand, “The Last of Us” is mostly very violent and graphic, and I probably wouldn’t watch the responses to it (except for the third episode, which I hear is terrific). And I tried watching “Heartbreak High” and couldn’t get past the first episode. I wouldn’t say no to “Looking,” though! And have a terrific time with Reiss while he’s home!

Lane Wright

I forgot to say my vote... 😂😂😂 Yes, Looking! I love Jonathan Groff. And of course anything related to Young Royals always! ♥️

Ingrid Machado Pena

9 days!!! 😊 I am voting for Looking and continuing Young Royals Patreon exclusives, please. ❤️👑❤️

Graham & Ruth May

It's a hard choice. I think The Last of Us EP 3 is a must see. Actually it was the only episode I watched. It's amazing! Is it possible to react to just this episode? I'm voting for Looking. I am happy for you, Jackie! 😊

Ingrid Machado Pena

Hi Jackie! The countdown is on for Reiss. Squee! So happy for you and all tge great things coming your way! I wanted to vote for two shows - Heartbreak High AND the Last of Us. Both have drama. Both have quality LGBTQ+ storylines. I think Heartbreak High has more comedy and teenage drama, along the lines of Sex Education. The Last of Us is just pure TV gold. I SIMPLY CAN'T PICK! 🤣❤️

Bekki Babineau

Would absolutely love Heartbreak High pretty please and then Love, Victor!! Haven't seen the other two but would love to eventually. So happy for you that Reiss is coming home so soon and I'm jealous of the jetting of into the sun bit too, hopefully in the summer for me 😊 I'm sure the new website will be amazing, you'll have to give us the link so we can all go check it out when it's up and running. X

Audrey Gunn

I would definitely love it if you would react to the other seasons of Skam. Especially if you do it at a later point and not right now. That way you could react to season 3 again having the context of Season 1 and 2 in mind.
