I recognized Andrew Keenan-Bolger the second I saw him, too. 🙂 This series reminds me a little of the American version of “Queer As Folk,” at least as far as explicitness goes. I don’t mind being thrown into the show in the middle and having backstory reveal itself as the series goes on, because I’ve watched a number of series that have done that, and it can be intriguing to find out things as you go along. (Sort of like “Skam.”)

2023-04-06 02:50:56 +0000 UTCI have a love hate relationship with this show. I think it is fab but I get such bad secondhand embarrassment that I can't really watch Patrick's scenes half the time. It is better with commentary and I am getting better. Doris is just so good, the friendships are lovely and all the actors are amazing so I will persevere.

2023-04-05 21:09:04 +0000 UTCAs expected, I'm really enjoying it. Keep in mind how long ago this was filmed. It was bordering on scandalous for HBO at the time. I'm not liking the faded color rendition. I looks like a old, old copy of a film that has faded away (like the last time I saw Bridge Over the River Quai in the Castro Theater a few years ago).

2023-04-05 10:36:32 +0000 UTCIt's still not pulling me in, I don't know why that is or what it is I don't like about it, it may be the lack of backstory, I don't really feel anything for them which is a must usually for making me root for people. Love the music and the cinematography though, that is really cool.

2023-04-05 08:37:51 +0000 UTCNot struggling with the sex scenes, struggling slightly with total-immersion-without-much-context-or-backstory approach and realising that I may need another episode to decide what I think. Like the acting, cinematography and (for me) the nostalgic music choices. Not sure yet about the writing and whether the show as a whole is really for me.
