Weekend Update - May 26th

Hope you have been having a wonderful week. The weather here in London has really picked up and it's starting to feel like summer is arriving now which is making me a very happy Jackie. I used to think I was a Autumn guy always saying how much I love the rain... but this year I have really learnt that I am deeply affected by the sun.
I am entering my last few days at lululemon and I am soooo excited to get started on this next chapter. This week was a big week for me as I delivered my first video project for a client and I'm very grateful that they are over the moon about it and I am now signing a more long term deal with them. The first of hopefully many more happy clients!
As such, they have asked me to do another shoot for them today last minute so I won't be able be able to get the next Heartstopper episode out until Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
On that note - how are we all feeling about Looking? I have noticed the engagement on those reactions has dropped considerably so is there another show you'd prefer to be seeing? The Looking reactions will without a doubt continue but I am happy to cater to the majority also.
Anyway, I am off now to work out some new toys I've ordered for the next couple of video jobs that I have coming over the next few weeks. It's a huge upgrade in workflow for me and I've got to wrap my head around it all.

2023-05-27 22:52:22 +0000 UTCI'm looking forward to Jackie reviewing 'Druck' as it's one I've not seen yet. Regarding 'SKAM' og, I rate very highly the final church scene in seaon 3 episode 9. I thought it was just beautifully filmed and very moving especially with the choice of music that was selected. I've watched that scene dozens of times now because I just wish that I had experienced being that close to someone I loved when I was a teenager, but not having the opportunity to be able to do that at the time or even dare express my feelings. I'm guessing I'm not alone with those desires when watching these type of TV shows. It's the 'I wish' and 'if only' factors isn't it.

It’s making me smile even now, recalling the look on your face at the time. 😂😊 There’s a bit of speculation on social media about how the raciness is going to be translated into the film version and it’s a question all right! You’ll see why when you read it. I think the book does it well, though and is also very funny at times. Enjoy. x❤️

Don’t worry - Looking isn’t going anywhere because i’m loving it I just wanted to sense check. Realistically it won’t be long until we are into Heartstopper Season 2 but I want to make sure we are hitting up another show before then so thank you for all the fab recommendations! Have you heard of, or seen, Sense8? It's on Netflix, at least in the US, and I think it's brilliant.

2023-05-26 21:19:33 +0000 UTCI admit I am behind on watching Looking but intend to catch up with it this weekend. I was sort of hoping you would break up the two seasons with something else, but clearly that ship has sailed, and that’s OK. Of course, I would be on the side of more Skam, either Season 4 (though admittedly, it has much less LGBTQ+ content) or Druck. If you end up going with The Last of Us I will probably only watch the third episode, since the rest of it sounds to be much too gory for my taste. Sex Education is great, and I would also put my vote in for one of the Thai series usually referred to as BL (which stands for Boy Love, even though there are plenty of shows where the characters are in their 20s or at least college age). Bad Buddy is pretty universally agreed on as one of the best, and I’d also recommend A Tale of 1000 Stars. Those shows are a good introduction to a very different culture from ours.

Secondly, while I wasn’t enough of a fan of Looking the first time around to stick with it, it might have been partly due to the fact that I didn’t have anyone with whom to share the watching experience. I do plan to rectify that with your reactions. I also agree that “The Last of Us” would make for a brilliant reaction series simply for episode 3 alone. You might also consider “Heartbreak High” on Netflix. It’s a reboot of a popular Aussie show with one series up and another on order. Lots of LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergence representation. I also think you might personally enjoy “Wednesday,” though you’ll have to decide if you want to include it on the channel. While it is very community coded, there isn’t any actual representation in the show. It’s just a clever, twisted, nostalgic good time.

It would be great to see some other kinds of representation and Sex Education does the trans experience of two characters very sensitively as well as their relationships with other characters.

I haven't seen the whole season but The Last of Us Ep3 is a must see. I haven't seen Heartbreak High but heard good things about it. Anyways, I guess, whatever the community decides.

2023-05-26 12:31:54 +0000 UTCabsolutely continue with the looking reactions but would love to see other shows on here! in a previous poll the last of us was one of the options and it would be amazing for you to react to that - one of the main characters ellie is a lesbian and there are two amazing lgbt episodes which i absolutely loved ( the storyline and series as a whole is absolutely incredible aswell, definitely one of my favourites )
