2024-02-06 07:44:43 +0000 UTCAt 4:44 note that Netflix has fixed the blooper where Charlie's dad called him "Joe" in the car, which had slipped by unfixed at the time of your earlier reaction to this episode.

2024-02-06 07:43:22 +0000 UTCI've been watching lots of lighting after your comments. After the cinema when Nick confronts Harry, the bisexual lighting with the blue cinema walls and the pink light coming through the doors behind Nick and the solid blue behind Harry (just like the scene after the Kiss). I wonder if it's a sign of Nick embracing his bisexuality against Harry's toxic masculinity as Nick draws on his bisexual powers to challenge Harry's homophobia. We saw strong bisexual lighting in the bowling alley when Nick was attending his boyfriend's birthday. In episode 3 when the girls are kissing/ dancing they are surrounded by rainbow lighting but Nick is bathed in the bisexual colours. The Nick and Charlie coloured lighting as they ran to the ballroom and the windows in the ballroom lit in alternating blue and yellow. The use of colour throughout this show brings everything together. Nick wears his blue and Charlie mostly wears his yellow throughout the season but in the final episode for the super cute beach date, Nick is wearing a yellow tshirt and Charlie is wearing a pale blue tshirt under his shirt, symbolising them together in their relationship.

2023-06-21 00:02:42 +0000 UTCFirst, Lane Wright: Me too. The Summer of 1975, that's when I had my "proper gay crisis." Fortunately I got through it all right. Second, I agree that Nick’s Mum figured things out about Charlie pretty well during the drive home. But we can spin off a fun speculation from that. What would she do next? Her homework, of course! She would go straight to that tablet she’s always poking at and search “What if my son is gay?” And she would start reading. And the payoff comes in the “coming out” scene in the final episode. She had waited patiently for Nick to raise the subject. When he does, she sits quietly and listens respectfully until he’s finished his speech. Notice that she never looks surprised. Only when he’s finished does she respond with a smile and a big hug. (When the camera switches to the other angle you can see Nick’s eyes squeezed shut tight, no doubt from a flood of relief.) In other words, she handles it perfectly. And of COURSE she did! She had read the instructions!!

2023-06-17 14:36:10 +0000 UTCA couple of the things I wanted to say I’ve already been touched on by other people, but here goes anyway: for the first time I noticed the panic in Ben’s eyes the moment Charlie says something about being boyfriends. And then, in the scene after the movie, you can see a layer of boys laughing at everything. Harry says, followed by a layer of boys not reacting that way (Sai, Otis, and Chris, I’m sure), and then Ben in the very back. I’m sure Ben took off a different way so he could confront Charlie in the parking lot using a different entrance. Ben is really a tortured soul who can only deal with it by lashing out at other people. And at the end, when Tao tells Charlie that it’s his fault, he says something to hurt him in a way only a friend knows what will hurt you the most. It really is Tao’s worst moment, but I think in the end, it’s the one he most regrets. Just a couple more comments: I’m pretty sure Kit has spent the time between seasons filming a movie that hasn’t been released yet. And I am old enough that when I was a teenager, nothing like MSN even existed, and the only way you could send a message to somebody would be to call them on the phone or write them a letter. You know, back in the Dark Ages of the early 70s. 😉

2023-06-17 08:14:18 +0000 UTCFirst of all, I'm putting my hand up for having watched it a million times. Second of all I'm putting my hand up for being old enough to know what MSN was, I spent many a night on msn messenger talking away to friends 😂 Now, the first thing I noticed that I hadn't before was in the very first scene when you saw Tori arrive in Charlie's room through the mirror, I never noticed that before, I just thought she had walked in the door and that's where we saw her come from. She was so chuffed for him though when he said he and Nick were going out. Also, does anyone think she goes to any parties?? She doesn't seem like the party going type person, yet she says she's seen Nick's mates at parties and they don't seem very nice 🤔 I think you're right Jackie, about the car drive home from the cinema, that is definitely the first time his mum realises that there may be more to him and Charlie that he is saying. You're also right about him choosing not to eat his lunch because it's something he can control whereas almost everything else in his life is changing and slipping away from his control. The scene in the canteen is so sad, you know what Charlie is going to say and you can tell that Nick is so scared to hear it as the last thing he wants is to lose Charlie who he probably feels is his only true friend, the only one he wants to hang out with. I don't know and don't want to know, what would have happened if that little kid hadn't run in and shouted that Harry was fighting with a kid on the field making them all scarper to go watch it. Possibly the only time Harry has been helpful, breaking up that conversation by fighting with Tao. Then the scene when Tao tells Charlie to just leave him alone, yet another thing that Charlie has lost control over. My god, I had totally forgotten why I hated this episode so much 😢

2023-06-17 08:14:15 +0000 UTCI actually filmed this last week so what I meant what about the tudum event this evening where we’ll be getting the first few minutes of Season 2 as well as the names of all the episodes 😍

2023-06-17 08:12:45 +0000 UTCI also noticed, when they were all walking out of the cinema that Sai, Otis and Chris are minding their distance from the rest of the group and not laughing at any of Harry’s homophobic jokes towards Charlie. I think it’s a subtle but very important detail. Especially for their future storyline (I believe it’s in Vol. 4) when they are trying to become friends with Nick again…

2023-06-17 07:35:47 +0000 UTCWait what?! Next week the season 2 trailer will be released??!!! 🤩🤩🤩How did you know that?

2023-06-17 07:22:35 +0000 UTCAs for Ben, the more I watch Bash, the more I’m noticing what a good actor he is. In the car park confrontation after the movie, you see a lot of simmering anger as well as jealousy, as if he’s simultaneously resentful of Nick’s relationship with Charlie but also envious and wanting that, yet disgusted with himself for wanting that. It’s there again in the snide remarks on the race track scene in the finale and as early as episode 1 when he shoves Charlie up against the wall after rugby practice and Nick intervenes.

2023-06-17 06:23:35 +0000 UTCI may be unintentionally making this up, but doesn’t Harry say in the Heartstopper 3 book- or maybe it’s much later, in Nick and Charlie- something about his homophobic family, blaming his behaviour and attitude on the way he has been brought up?

2023-06-17 06:16:14 +0000 UTCI have six different editions of V1, but who’s counting really?🤭🍂 I can’t wait to complete the set of those beautiful UK hard covers. The version of Solitaire with Jenny narrating is the US version to coincide with the new hard cover that was just released. It’s available on audible. It’s so good.
