Reacting to Druck Season 3 - Episode 9

Gooooood evening beautiful Patreon family,

Today we are jumping back into Druck (someone please clarify how I am supposed to pronounce this!?) and this story is continuing to tear my heart apart 😭

I am not ready for this beautiful show to end and I cannot wait to binge watch from the beginning of season 1 when I move.

See you in the comments,

Love, always ♥️

Watching this for the first time with your videos, and i think this was my favorite episode so far! Overall, I'd have to say i like og Skam a bit more, because some of the scenes are just stuck in my brain with how much i love the symbolism and subtext, but i really like Hans in this series

I know I'm a bit late to this lol, but what you mentioned about camaraderie is what I love SO MUCH about all of the DRUCK seasons. We get to see so much more of the other characters and friendship is really prioritized and it's so nice. They all have incredible character development too, especially Kiki if you watch from seson 1 to season 4 she's really a standout character despite not being a main character. It would be amazing to see your reactions to the other seasons!

Artemis

Strongest episode of the whole season for me. And I love the little things they put in, hidden in plain sight. Look at the colour palette of Matteo's mother's clothes...

Harald Thomssen

Lane - I have to agree with everyting that you have said here.

Michael

Loving it, love to watch with you ❤️

As with Skam, this ninth episode is my favorite of the season, even though it handles the story very differently. In the original, I love the way it moves from the church and the song through Isak traveling back to the school and finally coming to Even with the three simple words “You’re not alone,” words that speak volumes. Then here, with a lot more dialogue, which is absolutely necessary, and that final emotional meeting in the empty pool. They couldn’t be handled more differently, but that is why I think both of them work so well (and none of the other comparative scenes in the other remakes quite pulls off). To me, the last episode of the OG contains part of the most important material in the whole season, and is far more than just an epilogue. So I can’t write it off because the very end is incredibly meaningful to me. But a number of the differences in how the story is handled has to do with the OG dealing with mental health while this deals with prejudice. With Isak’s story, the only real homophobia that exists is his own self-hatred at the beginning, and once he is out, that is no longer an issue. In Druck, there is transphobia from the teacher that is wonderfully counteracted by the lack of transphobia by Matteo’s friends. And so these two seasons of the two series are for me equally wonderful, though wonderfully different. And none of the other remakes I have seen lives up to how great both these are. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. 🙂

Very good episode - who else noticed that the music at the 21:10 mark is the same music as featured in the film 'Call Me By Your Name'?

Michael

Wow, what a powerful and emotional episode! So so good!

Joe Lancaster

no hard feelings, don’t stress out. German is very difficult 😅

Frances

Hey Jackie, Druck basically rhymes with book 😉

Frances

As I said last episode it‘s pronounced like drook. Rhymes with book or look 😉
