2024-03-02 21:55:42 +0000 UTCI think Edvin and Omar both do quite a bit of excellent nonverbal acting (and actually, Malte does as well). And though it’s definitely not nonverbal, what Edvin does in that confrontation with August in the gym is particularly impressive. Both in his voice and in his expression, you can see anger, disappointment, and hurt all mixed in together. I’ve always thought it’s one of the best-acted scenes in the entire series. I also noticed for the first time that the dress that Sara is wearing in the dinner scene with her family is the one that Felice gave her (maybe everybody else noticed that before, but it didn’t strike me until this viewing).

Which makes watching it with you all the more enjoyable. And every new watching uncovers something more. It pleases me no end that you caught the scene where Simon caresses Wille's image on the cover of the tabloid. I caught that my first viewing and it's that kind of subtitle detail that makes this show so incredibly brilliant. This show is almost completely subtext. I found my self thinking, in early viewings, that I found it hard to understand my deep feeling that Wille and Simon were so completely in love. They have so little actual contact in season 1. But the way Edvin and Omar react to one another when they do have scenes is so amazing, they don't even have to have dialogue. What magnificent talents.

I think the moment Wille has the phone conversation with his mother and finds out that she already knew it was August who leaked the video is the moment he makes a decision to take matters into his own hands. You can really feel his sense of betrayal, his feeling that he’s been coerced into betraying Simon and his own feelings for the sake of protecting the status quo-and August escapes any punishment. As we see right from the beginning of season 2, he’s determined to bring August down in revenge. I just love the elegance of the parallels and echoes between seasons 1 and 2. Here, Simon says he doesn’t want to be anyone’s secret, yet at the end of season 2, he’s offering just that and the ‘I love you’ is returned to Wille, not just in those words but also by that offer. Simon thinks at this point that Wille wants everything on his own terms and it isn’t until episode 5 in season 2 that he understands what Wille’s situation really feels like.And Wille, consumed by a fear of public speaking and a prey to anxiety attacks throughout season 1 tears up the scripted speech and the status quo to do what he couldn’t in season 1. If at the end of season 3, they could BOTH say, ‘I love you’ and break the fourth wall together, I would crack open the champagne. ❤️👑❤️
