Haha right as I’m catching up! Yesss your reactions and love for this show are great. It may be hard to believe but season 2 is even better than season 1. It’s crazy how they continue to up the game. Can’t wait to experience it through your eyes!

2024-10-17 05:07:28 +0000 UTCI admit that when I went into watching this the first time, I didn’t know what to expect, having read the book years ago (probably in high school, I never finished the series) and then having watched the movie many times (Brad Pitt…) but this is so much more, more visually stunning, the language is wonderful, and this Lestat is far and away more seductive and appealing than Tom Cruise could ever be…I can’t wait to see how this story is told when given a fully series to grow rather than a feature length entity…

2024-08-13 01:42:07 +0000 UTCtotally agree with you that having theatre actors in the show makes it stand above other shows that are out at the minute because of the detail that goes into every single movement and piece of dialogue that they say, put incredible acting together with incredible writing and you have one hell of a show! season 2 is also my favourite for the same reasons as you, the talent of this cast and crew knows no bounds!

And I'm glad you enjoyed this first episode, this is certainly not going to be the last time you are at a loss for words. And as you go on, I'm sure you will find yourself thinking that this show needs MORE than an hour per episode, it's crazy. Yes this was a movie in the 90s, but it was actually a novel series that started in the 70s! Anne Rice is the author and she and her son produced this show before she passed. The show actually goes beyond just that first book so you're definitely in for a ride. And there are obviously numerous changes made from the book/movie, chiefly being Louis' race and the time period, which was actually a wonderful twist and all the complications that comes with these changes are beautifully handled imo. And the amount of talent in this show is ridiculous, you see it even more in Season 2 imo, but you can tell that so many people working on this show have theater experience, which takes everything to a whole nother level. This show is peak drama. My favorite thing about this premiere is how it draws you in with the initial plot intrigue between Louis and Daniel's history and being in the modern world. Then you get enthralled by the period piece it becomes, the beautiful storytelling and dialogue from Louis, the costumes, music, everything about that southern aesthetic, feeling the pull of Lestat and appreciating the dance between him and Louis and their growing relationship and chemistry, the chase and understanding what that meant for the time period they were in, the "petit coup" scene, etc. Then you get a wonderful moment of levity with the wedding and Louis and his family...and then wham they hit you with Paul's death and all the events that follow remind you that this is in fact a gothic horror. It's twisted, violent, irreverent and sensual and I love it! I love Jacob Anderson so much, that confessional scene is truly outstanding. And Sam Reid as Lestat is insane, he makes it so easy to understand how Louis fell for him. Their chemistry is amazing, but you're also still able to see how horrifying it is. And huge props to their accent work, obviously you know Jacob Anderson is British, but Sam Reid is Australian and his French accent is amazing. Season 2 is even better than this first season in my opinion, I can't wait for you to experience it all!
