The day began like any other, with the annoying chirp of an alarm. Shannon stirred awake and slowly sat up. She felt the usual resistance but powered through with a groan. After that, it was a simple pivot, and she could place her feet on the ground.
Shannon sighed and rested her hands on her bare knees. This was the most challenging part of each morning. With a groan, she started to lean forward and attempted to stand. It took a few tries, and her bed offered louder groans of protest each time. Eventually, Shannon accomplished her task and waddled toward the light. The reason it took so much effort for Shannon to get out of bed was simple.
Shannon was fat.

RECENT ADDITION
The Anderson household had a few rules and customs. The first was that breakfast and lunch were “fend for yourself” meals. The pantry and fridge were always stocked, so Shannon had no reason to worry about her kids not eating. Another rule in the house was not to skip meals too.
Shannon sipped her coffee and ruminated over what she would eat. Her stomach let out a roiling groan, so it was obvious the answer wasn’t something light. She sucked her teeth and swayed her hips. It was funny to her that a fat woman couldn’t decide what to eat. It used to be anything and everything, but Shannon had to be a bit pickier on weekdays. Something too heavy would knock her fat ass out and leave her groggy until lunch.
