Tasker losing SMS and Call functionality
Added 2018-11-13 13:21:53 +0000 UTCAs explained at the link, Google is taking away SMS and Call functionalities from Tasker unfortunately.
SMS is one of the most used features in Tasker!
People are justifiably unhappy with this, and trying to convince Google to open an exception for automation apps, which makes all the sense in the world!
An issue in their issue tracker has been created here and it has been flooded with requests to not do this to Tasker...
Hopefully Google will change their minds about this and somehow let Tasker continue to use these features!
I'll keep you posted on any news on this matter.

Yes, that could be a workaround. But as you said, wouldn't help with sending :(
