What are your favorite kinds of posts?

I was just wondering what you most like to see around here. :)

Yes, I had meant to say by device, not account, but I wrote it in reverse accidentally. Another issue with Play Store licensing is that it checks too often and oftentimes doesn't work offline. So if my device isn't connected to Internet for awhile, it fails the license check and I can't use what I've paid for. This has happened to me more than a few times. But you didn't create the system, so it's out of your control.

AnonVendetta

Licensing in the DP version is by device actually, not by account :) It's verified when first entered and then it's not verified again so it'll work offline.

Yes, I see, it makes sense for app authors when they let Google handle the details. But to some like me, who think Google is already too powerful and have way too much info about people...not so good. Anyway, even if your price for an outright sale on the DP versions is a bit higher, it still might be worth it. And it would help to offset some of the costs you incur. I'll take a look at the ones you mentioned. I will go ahead and assume that the DP versions are licensed per account, not per device. How often do they verify their license? Licensing is key based, like with Tasker DP? Thanks!

It's not a matter of being a bad businessman, it's a matter of not wanting to have all the work associated with direct-purchase versions. It's much much easier to just let Google handle all the billing for me :P I have AutoTools, AutoNotification, AutoVoice and AutoShare IIRC.

OK, thanks! That's my only frustration with Join. I joined Patreon in gratitude for your work, and in hopes it would boost my request. 😊

Damn you, Joao! You are a skilled app author, but a really bad businessman! How do you expect to make money from and market the direct purchase versions of individual AutoApps if you do not mention (advertise) them anywhere? I would gladly pay for a DP license for each outright, depending on if I need them. Which ones are they? In the future please do mention DP versions of these apps! And post about it somewhere that will be noticed (Patreon, Tasker website). I just recently bought a newer device for work to supplement the personal device I've been using for a few years. But since it's for work (I'm self-employed), I do not want to modify it much, which means no removing Google stuff and maybe installing Magisk. Since Tasker is so powerful, I may just install it there and let it automate as much as possible. I'm already test driving an AutoApps sub on it, the monthly price is fair but I still prefer buying outright. I will always go for a DP version vs Play Store, if available. I'm planning on using this device for learning Tasker.

Thank you very much! :) Really appreciate that kind of support!!

João Dias

I only use Pattern to support you, I don't expect anything from it. I vote for sneak peaks only because it's like a mini tutorial and as a novice I learn more.

Bert Beck

Haha :) Thank you very much for your kind words!

João Dias

Love it all! Only problem here is my little mind can't keep up with you! Honestly, I never really have to ask "is such and such possible?", I only need to ask "how would João do this?". With your tools there is always a way. And its getting better! Thanks

Jay

Sorry, not yet!

João Dias

Thanks. Hopefully Join will be able to work on other browsers soonish...

João Dias

Thanks for the input. A few of my AutoApps already have direct purchase versions actually. I just don't advertise it much cause it's much easier to let Google handle all the billing. But if you ever need a license let me know :)

João Dias

I agree very much with AnonVendetta's thoughts. In my case like to see Join set free from the dependence on Chrome. It's the sole reason Chrome is on my computers.

DaveStLou

I think you're a good, honest, hard working app author. But I also think that your apps' licensing/billing schemes (Tasker/AutoApps/etc) are far too dependent on the Google megacorporation's ecosystem. I would like to see alternative licensing schemes in the future for those that don't wish to have Google's cruft on their devices. You have already done this in a way by continuing the tradition of Tasker direct purchase. But AutoApps is entirely Google-dependent.

AnonVendetta

You're welcome! Btw, any progress on getting all the join support files out of the Google Drive Recent listing? Or did I miss where that has been implemented?

Nathan Martin

Thank you very much!

João Dias

I agree with Robert. You are very creative and I enjoy seeing the fruit of your labors as well as your thoughts on how to use your products.

Nathan Martin

Haha that's also good to know, thanks!

João Dias

That's a very tough poll! I like to see it all 😄😄
