What's next for Archipel (Prologue)

Hello everyone,

You may have seen our call for suggestions on Discord, mentioning that we will be renewing our Patreon. Before our "official" renewal announcement, which we will share publicly in the next few days, we wanted to give you an initial glimpse of what's coming next.

- Patreon tiers: we will change the $5 tier, as we've mentioned the logs are taking more than time than expected to get the necessary confirmations (although we'll be sharing the one for our interview with Toshihiro Nagoshi). Consequently, the logs will be replaced by exclusive interview outtakes, for patrons only.

- New Goals: more goals coming to the Patreon, one of them being a mini-series around a specific theme.

- Secondary channel (!): so this one may come as unexpected. Last year, we made a project in collaboration with Game*Spark, a local game media, where we created a documentary on the last months before the release of Nioh 2. We will be rebranding this channel and it will become home to our upcoming gaming-related content (which does not mean that there won't be gaming related content on the Archipel main channel anymore), with a first video in the works that we think you'll enjoy. Although Game*Spark will help with some of the pre-production logistics, this brings in an additional layer of work for us, but we hope we'll be able to bring at least one new content per month, either on the main channel or on this secondary one.

- More: there are other projects that we can't really talk about just yet. We are also thinking of revisiting the idea of making educational content for Japanese learners, which we had made a concept of on our Medium.

We hope that these changes will help us grow on Patreon, allowing us to keep evolving as a channel and gather the necessary financial support to keep creating more content.

As mentioned above, we'll be sharing a more detailed post soon, meanwhile feel free to share your thoughts either via comments or on the Discord.

Thank you!

- the Archipel team

Comments

We added Japanese subtitles on some of our videos, most notably our portraits of Hiroyuki Takei, Akiman, Katsuya Terada, Shinichi Sakamoto and Yoshitaka Amano - we know they can be helpful for Japanese learners, which is why we're revisiting the idea of making more "educational" content, of course we'll be thinking of adding more Japanese subtitles as well.

Archipel

I curious why most videos have multiple language options but Japanese subtitles are just auto generated.
