Patreon Renewal

Hi everyone,

We're excited to launch today our renewed Patreon and our plan for the future of our channel and our content. Before we jump into the changes, we feel we need to provide a bit more context and what led us to this renewal.

Simply put, our current funding does not allow us to create regular content for Archipel. We've been balancing with our side jobs, but when we take into account the time we want to spend in order to create our content, the math simply doesn't add up. There will still be some sporadic content on Archipel, but with the hope to get more support for our channel (and while we look for additional funding resources), here is the new plan and changes we are applying today.

GOALS |

We have set up a certain number of goals in order to unlock new series and content, with an initial content goal set at 1,000 patrons. If cleared, we will launch a limited short series, centered around independent manga creators over three episodes, covering distinct profiles, their style, their work and environments.

Full goal detail is as follows:

- 500 Patrons: The necessary first steps. At this goal, we will also add Japanese subtitles aimed at Japanese learners for our upcoming videos on Archipel & sporadically on older videos when there is no new content.

- 1,000 Patrons: We will launch a 3-episode limited series themed on independent manga artists, covering three distinct profiles, their universe, their style and their environment.

- 1,500 Patrons: Multilingual subtitles for our upcoming content, including Portuguese (BR), Spanish, French and Russian in addition to the existing English.

- 2,000 Patrons: Regular content is back on the Archipel channel, covering creators from various fields, such as animation, manga or gaming.

- 4,000 Patrons: Launch of an original new series -or- a long-form documentary

Meanwhile, there is still some content you will see from us, which leads us to...

SECONDARY CHANNEL |

We launched Cutscenes, a secondary channel made in collaboration with Japanese game media Game*Spark. This channel will cover players from the game industry, with Game*Spark helping us on some pre-production tasks, which can be quite time consuming in Japan.

You may wonder why we are launching a secondary channel when we are looking for funding. In our current situation, we need either financial resources or time, with Game*Spark helping on the latter while we try to gather funding. Of course, this does not mean that we won't be making gaming content on the main Archipel channel anymore.

After an initial long-form content that we made last year on the last months of development of Nioh 2, we just released our first video for Cutscenes under its new form, a portrait of Ikumi Nakamura, as she told us about her story and new projects as we wandered through "haikyo", abandoned buildings left in desolation.

TIERS |

The tiers remain similar to the previous version, with a modification on the $5 tier.

- $1 Tier: Access to our patron-only Discord channel, where we try to spending as much time as we can to answer and occasionally organize AMA sessions with Japanese creators.

- $5 Tier: *NEW* Video interview outtakes for our upcoming content on Archipel (not applicable for Cutscenes)

- $10 Tier: Your name appears in the credits, in addition to all of the above.

- $100 Tier: We’re immensely grateful for your support. Supporters in this tier will have a special mention at the end of our videos, in addition to all previous tiers rewards.

We hope we will be able to get back to creating regular content for the channel, in the hopes to build an archive of Japan's creativity. Your funding is what we will help us shed more light on Japanese creative minds.
