Yeah I get the fact that this is weighted towards new annual patrons so it is not really "fair" but isn't extra content fun?!?
Why are Annual Patrons important? Well you save money and we save money too, we pay a bit less in credit card fees and it cuts down on the number of credit card declines each month. I think we have almost 1000 patrons who have cards that cannot be processed, which is about 20% of our support.
The best way to avoid declines is to either use Paypal or Apple Pay or to change your payment to annual payment (ONLY do this towards the END of the month NOT EARLY in month!!!)
For existing patrons the following steps will help you switch over your pledge to annual.
- Log in, hover over your profile icon in the top right corner, and select Manage Memberships
- From your Active Memberships page click Edit next to the pledge you want to change
- You’ll see a familiar checkout page where you can select Annual
- Click Update. Note: you’ll be charged upfront for the discounted price
