FLIP THE TAPE, KID. STRETCH AND BOBBITO, WKCR 1/5/95

We hope all of you are having as best a Thursday as humanly possible!

As promised, here is the flip side to the tape we posted two Thursdays ago. It was one of those nights that was so cold, no one wanted to leave the studio and freeze their asses off. Maybe that’s why everyone rhymed for dumb long haha. This was the night we met Talib for the first time. He came up with Micah 9 from Freestyle fellowship, whose records like “Sunshine Men” and “7th Seal” got a lot of burn on very early Stretch and Bob shows in 1991 (off their excellent To Whom It May Concern album). Also in the place to be was Tash from Tha Liks. The three MCs painted a pretty nice picture of the diversity in hip-hop back then, as well as the camaraderie that was born out of a mutual respect for the work and craft of fellow artists, despite obvious stylistic and geographic differences. There are also some snaps thrown in for good measure. After all, it was getting late and delirium was setting in.

Aight party people….’til next time. Love y’all.

We will!

These drops are legit making my week. Keep blessing us ✌🏼

Dope !!

Such a display of skill on that freestyle. Hip hop back then was our generation's jazz. Dope artists furthering their craft through collaboration. And it was all born out of talent recognizing talent and a mutual desire to trade bars.

Ha ha!

Wooord

This was a heavily traded tape back in the day
