Podcast Ep. 12: Mortal Kombat The Album

Hey eveyrone! Last episode we mentioned that we might get into this album. We decided it was too easy and too fun not to. Hope you enjoy it!

Podcast Ep. 12: Mortal Kombat The Album

Comments

I can't identify with this. I watched the film at least 5 times while it was in theaters. I really don't know what was wrong with me. Maybe it gave me hope that action film making was ready for something better than the one-sided beatings delivered by Van Damme and Steven Seagal. Maybe I'm just a sucker. I can safely say with 100% certainty that Street Fighter the Movie was always a piece of trash.

I was 17 when the movie came out, had a car, and drove me and 2 friends to the theater to see this pile of garbage. We simply weren't high enough to enjoy it, and unfortunately I never loved the album like you did, Zak. But this podcast brought me back to that day 22 years ago, which was a trip in of itself.

Holy shit guys. I was almost crying last night listening to this. This music reminded me of a crappy "now this is what I call techno" style CD with a bunch of random German electronica that I bought from OnCue back in the 90s. (At the time I had to pay high schoolers to buy music like NIN for me when I was in middle school.)

You guys should dissect the Pac Man Fever album by Buckner & Garcia (1982). One of my first electronica experiences and especially cool cuz I knew all the games from the arcade: Frogger, Defender, Berzerk...

Directions: Circle the letter of the correct answer. 1. Among the following, who does not fear death? a) Rayden b) Johnny Cage c) Both a) and b) d) None of the above The only problem with this album is that they never came out with Mortal Kombat The Album The Video Game.

Keep trying to post on soundcloud but can't seem to... wanted to say I believe the reason for the "Young BUT fast" rhetoric is that youth is bad, BUT speed is good (youth being inherently inexperienced relative to elders)

Ninja Tweak

Keep up :)

Illuminati Games

Absolutely hit us up with that remix!

Okay so now this makes two. I am humbly asking for a full length "spooky experiences" tune and now this Goro intro. As I was listening to Craven react to it I was thinking, man if HE doesn't sample this shit I WILL. But but obviously y'all could do much more than I could... So ill let you in on a secret: I took jabbas sail barge music and made a slick ass 90s gangster rap beat out of it. It's not finished but I feel like I should share it with you two.

Love this album, when I first got my license I remember blasting techno syndrome around town with my friends. The female vocals always reminded me of bond songs.

We got schooled by Timmy! The date we found was wrong. I guess Good Vibrations did come first. Stupid internet. It's still a funny bit though.

Holy shit...

Whenever I popped this album in, I WAS the friend you were embarrassed to be friends with

Auralnauts

Auralnauts bringing the truth! I for one welcome Marky Mark and his Funky Bunch, may his vibrations forever be good.

David Anderson

I bet it would be a fun time to just put the Raiden lyrics - nay, all these lyrics - into a hat and recombine them. The song would be immune to the nonsense that results. He's Tall! Because he has no eyes! Johnny cage is not afraid to fly!

Ninja Tweak

Y'all made my day. I was a kid that hunted this album down after the first movie released. It was mildly disappointing in the way that I felt most tracks were almost good but just ruined by a couple bad choices; yet you really couldn't help but love it in secret like a friend you were embarrassed to be friends with.

Ninja Tweak

Yeah I noticed that while we were editing it. Maybe it really is hard to come up with words that rhyme with "die"!

Auralnauts

Loving the podcast my dudes. Thoroughly enjoyed this stroll/rave down memory lane. FYI they couldn't use "cry" to rhyme with "die" because it was already in that verse, "Use your split punch and make 'em cry", the split punch indeed being a tear-inducing nut shot.

"He's got no eyes. How many times do I have to tell you?" JFC. lololol

Scott B.

Oh my god, this Marky Mark stuff. I can't listen to this at work.
