Patreon Changes Update

Hey everyone,
We wanted to take some time to address the changes Patreon is making to their policy on processing fees. Our understanding is that patrons will now be charged an additional 35 cents +2.9% on top of their chosen donation. So for example, if you’re donating $1, now it’s really $1.38. Patreon is trying to spin this as beneficial for the creator which, on paper, it is, but it’s detrimental to the people most important in a support structure like this, which is you guys. The idea of doing something positive for the creator by dropping a bomb on the supporters seems pretty counterproductive. We were more than happy to foot the bill for those fees before.
We’re always hugely thankful for your support. We’re humbled by it, and we bust our asses in every project we do. We don’t take it for granted and always strive to find ways to create more. Your donations help make that possible. But we know that many of you are uncomfortable with this new setup and we completely understand if you withdraw your support, especially people in the one dollar range.
In the meantime we’re trying to open up a dialog with people at Patreon to see what can be done. For those of you who have reached out to us expressing displeasure over these changes, but have said you’d be happy to support us elsewhere, we hear you. And we want to make sure Patreon hears you too.
Thanks again to those of you who continue to support and to those who have supported. You guys really do rock and we will continue to do our best to make you proud. In the meantime, we’ve attached the track from Microtouch for your listening pleasure. LASER pleasure.

If there's a better way to support than Patreon, point me to it and I'll go do that instead.

2017-12-07 23:31:22 +0000 UTCThe 3% doesn't bother me, but the 35c per pledge is BS. That works out for me to be double the impact because I support a number of creators, yet there is only ONE CHARGE on my paypal account, not many charges, so that overhead is a bit onerous. It works out overall to be a 10% increase. But I guess I don't mind because it eventually goes to you and others eventually like yellow warm trickle down economics.

It's nice to know that you're thinking of how this affects your fanbase, which in turn is why we continue to support you despite never returning my calls and pretending like you don't see me, BUT I KNOW YOU SEE ME.
