Life After Ep. 6 (Music Download Inside)

Hello everyone! Hope you've been having a good month. If, for some reason, you didn't realize that Episode 6 is actually finished and available, I hope you are recovering from your coma and all is well. We poured our very beings into this episode and we're extremely proud of the results. We spent some time breaking out the musical portions of the episode into separate videos as well. Tree World, in particular, has an entirely original edit to give it more of a reason to exist on its own.
That project was a major milestone for our channel and, we realize, a big reason a lot of you are here in the first place. For those of you who know us, you know we're always up to many different types of shenanigans and we were excited to jump back into the other kinds projects, both new and familiar. Coming up with stuff to make is never a problem for us. The biggest problem we face now, sadly, is Youtube itself.
We've always had our share of ups and downs with the platform, but lately it's been hitting more and more creators very hard. I'm subscribed to channels that have gone from a million+ views per video down to 90k or less, seemingly overnight. Something is most definitely wrong and it's looking less and less like a place where anyone can flourish, let alone a couple of guys skirting the edges of the law. Youtube even sent us an email telling us to get rid of all our worldly possessions and live out of a van. Not kidding. We are increasingly reliant on fan support and we can't thank you all enough for everything you do and for sticking with us. We'll obviously keep pumping out content for our channel, but we're also focused more than ever on becoming self sustaining.
On that note, this happened!

We submitted our video for a How to/DIY Webby and to our surprise, we actually won! We didn't win the people's choice award, but come on. "People's choice" is another way of saying "popularity contest" and we never had a chance. We won the jury selection though, and we not only beat two celebrities, but also Google and BBDO, the top ad agency in the world. However, Adam Savage and Michael Stevens are awesome, so I'm glad they won over those other bigwigs. Winning a Webby is the sort of opportunity we needed in order to get opportunities that will lead to a bigger and better Auralnauts. Who knows. Maybe one day Disney will actually hire us to make these things.
In closing, we hope you all enjoyed Episode 6, and we hope you're looking forward to everything else we have in store for the future. We recorded a podcast, which will be a little outdated by the time it hits, but we have strong enough opinions about Ready Player One to put it out anyway, so look out for that next. In the meantime, enjoy Neon Dystopia, the official title of the How to Make a Blockbuster Movie Trailer instrumental. We submitted it to a licensing library, so hopefully we'll actually see some action from all the people looking to use it in their vids.
Love,
Craven + Zak

2018-05-04 01:20:53 +0000 UTCI can't believe YouTube had the nerve to send an email like that. That's so stupid it actually hurts.

2018-05-03 22:06:25 +0000 UTCCongrats on the Webby! I'm proud that I help support you guys with a few bucks here and there until YouTube un-fucks themselves. They need a better revenue model or, I hate to say it, anti-ad-blocking. YouTubeRed looks promising, if only it had a reason to exist other than to watch Cobra Kai.
