Podcast Ep. 17!

Hey everyone!

We know it's been awhile since we made one of these. Truth is, we recorded one prior to this, but as we explain in this episode, it was horribly outdated very quickly. Anyway, we hope you enjoy our thoughts on Solo and the use of John Williams music as canonical references. And apologies for the white noise near the beginning. Zak's roommate randomly decided to take a shower in the middle of the day.

Love,

Craven + Zak

The whole deep-dive on the Imperial March cracked me up. It also reminded me of when they broke the fourth wall musically in Spaceballs: https://youtu.be/O7aeWQCF1jM?t=2m18s

Well, imo, it's simply a toxic response to a toxic film. Garbage in, garbage out. And I'm not saying the mean-spirited vile "hatefest" towards the film or towards the creators of it is OK, it's not. But The Last Jedi was garbage, it's genuinely hateful filmmaking, and its criticism is fully warranted -- again, just my opinion. Shoddy storytelling, shat on SW canon (and on Episode 7) and on its more diehard fans. Dismiss the legions of good/smart folks who loathe this film, at your own risk. I believe the franchise is doomed, and I've personally lost all interest, apart from the Auralnauts spoofs of such. :)

Spot on commentary on the toxic Last Jedi hatefest, ready player one (I saw it and forgot about it- remember the rumors of it having some sort of augmented reality device to watch it with in the theater when it was first announced?) and Solo. You guys put so much effort into these podcasts and it shows (I still listen to that blue Monday/lemony Snicket mashup) but any chance you could just do some unedited movie/TV review/commentary so you can churn them out quicker? Maybe alternate between a full podcast and just an unedited movie discussion? I'd be willing to do an extra tour of duty in the Laser Corp for it!

End Note, Ding Ding was stuck in my head for weeks

I'm reminded of the 2012 election South Park episode where they needed to prevent Star Wars from going to Disney for exactly this issue. The kind of disgusting thing though is that Solo made money, like a lot of money, but not all the money so its a failure in Disney's eyes. Also Poe Damrin's cringy jokes wouldn't be so bad if they weren't the first lines in both films.

You guys are the best. YOU GUYS! Please post podcast 17A for Patreon peeps? Please? :)

Yea boi netflix and chill! Also I can’t wait to see what you guys do next. I REALLY like listening to you guys talk about films and I would love to hear your analyses more frequently and on more film related topics. Peace, donut brains!

Netflix and chill = CONFIRMED

Primed, the track we discussed during the podcast! We’re going to release it here

Great to hear from you guys, as always. What was the piece of music you signed off to?

I'd still love to hear your old outdated irrelevant but fun podcast to be honest. I'm not sure if you are RLM fans but Rich Evans put it well with Star Wars, the universe is so huge but also so constricting as far as what we see in movies. You always have to do a small ragtag band of rebels fighting a huge empire/first order with a giant space laser. Solo thankfully had a few different things going on but I found myself bored until the last half hour. I also hated Han shooting first and all the other cringy little throwbacks like "I gotta good feeling about this", or the hug fakeout. And how many more times will we see this damn Space Chess game?? Also just WTF is the Kessel Run? Why is there a giant space squid next to a black hole in some sort of space tunnel? I was so confused by that setting. Your idea for space Williams conducting music in the action scenes had me crying. Be cool if you guys made a behind the scenes vid on the Jedi Party series but can understand that's probably a lot of work with low view counts. Hopefully podcasts more on the regular? Ding Ding song mashup with Imperial March conducted with lazers by Space John Williams?
