I’d love an After Dark on The Last Stop in Yuma County (once Devindra sees it). I’m excited to watch it this weekend after hearing Jeff’s reaction!

Dare I say it, these vague and oblique references at the start of every pod should all get their own TikTok excerpt series, especially if you ask your audience to try to guess what film you’re referencing. Tho this one could be a bit of a dead giveaway…

Okay Jeff, let’s get into this: saga comes from the Old Norse for “a thing said, a story”, and historically it refers to the specific genre of the great Icelandic prose stories. There was also a whole tradition of Icelandic epic poems, so basically, sagas were where you worried less about getting your verse form right and more about the plot. There was no connotation of “big multipart story spread across multiple episodes”. They were the sprawling novels of their day. The term has been abused to hell and gone since it made its way into English 200 years ago, but when you get down to it, Furiosa has the scope and the mythic resonance and the outright weirdness of a lot of the Icelandic sagas. Also worth noting: Thor is an Icelandic figure as much as a Norse one, so having Evil Thor be Furiosa’s main antagonist is entirely appropriate!

Dave, when you watch Conquest of the Planet of the Apes be sure to watch the Blu Ray which has the Unrated cut.

Sean Lass

Kill baby Hitler via coffee table

Best Cliffhangers LOST Jack is at an airport. A car pulls up. Kate gets out. "We have to go back" My reaction was akin to Jeff's reaction to Split. I was shaking. I was desperate to talk to someone. You knew something was coming, but no one saw a flash forward!

A & M Mangold

i’m a little high right now but jeff trying to describe this documentary in a polite, but critical way is killing me. one of the funniest exchanges on the show. david tries to sum it up and move on at least 3 times

John Spriggs

Jane Wiedlin (from the Go-Gos and Clue Singing Telegram Girl) also played Joan of Arc in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure!

Cameron Stewart

Not me screaming Ms Rachel for kid show suggestions

Huge Jim Cummings fan here! Happy to inform you that there is one film written and directed by Cummings that flew under the radar and it’s excellent! Check out 2021’s THE BETA TEST on Hulu. Jump in blind and you’ll love it.

Andrew Campbell

Now when are we getting Jeff and Dave covering moonlighting week to week on decoding tv? 😂

Gareth

Charlton Heston blows up the bomb as a fuck you. That’s crucial. Dave finally realizes that ALL Ape movies are bummers 😀

Mountain of Conflict

I’m gonna need an after dark with the Simon Baker experience discussed. Thanks in advance.

Storybots is criminally underrepresented/underrated and the hip hop songs are so good they are legit listens for adults (netflx)
