Dear Patreons,
During my time at La Poudriรจre one of the things we went more in-depth with was the creation of bibles. Unfortunately due to legal reasons I can't show you any of the projects that we worked on developing over there, but at the end of the long work days I would feel very inspired to take what I had learned home with me and implement it into Tales of Zale. This is how I came to create what I'd consider a first draft bible for the project. A "bible", for those who don't know is a term used within animation for a document that describes the overall concept of a project in an approachable manner, often used to convince people to invest in the project's further development - which is what I hope to do with Tales of Zale with in time.

I had a lot of fun both putting together the new images and text for the bible, and learned a lot more about the characters and the concept in the process. These days I feel much more free to change things up according to the project's needs and it feels rather freeing. It's like the Tales of Zale keeps growing together with me and it's so cool to keep discovering new things about it. I've already gotten a lot of feedback on the bible that I'm processing and eagerly looking forward to adding into the next draft!

I also used the bible for my application to the Animation Sans Frontiรจre. Unfortunately there were a lot of high-level applications this year and the jury had to come up with new criteria for choosing who got in. One of those criteria were that the applicant had to be graduated and so I was omitted from consideration in the very end. Just gotta get that last half year of internship done with. In case you're wondering I'm going to be interning at Cartoon Saloon in Ireland by the way. So I won't be staying in Denmark for too long this time around!

Anyways, I've attached the full bible below for you to check out! I'll probably be doing more of these exploratory sketches in the near future. I know everybody's eager to see episode 3 in it's full form (which next week's post will have some updates on), but right now it's not just about the one episode but about the whole project, and although it takes time I can't wait to show you all the best of what it can be!
Till next time, here are some more sketches:
