Dear Patrons,

Hope you're all doing well! I'm writing this on a rainy summer day. The sort of day where it's nice to stay inside with a cup of tea and write a Patreon update.

THIS MONTH'S PREVIEW:

Admittedly, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a good monthly preview. September is rapidly closing in, and a lot of the final tweaks are rather minor and hard to spot. There are also still a few bits and pieces from the episode that I think are better left a surprise. Just a few! But either way, as far as I can tell, I haven't shown the comped version of this scene yet. And it's just about exactly one year since I last showed its progress, so it seems fitting!

EPISODE 3:

There are still a few individual shots that are getting a big push though. As I've mentioned, there have been some backgrounds that I wished to redo, so I am slowly making my way through them:

Apart from that, music production is really moving forward! I can't wait to have you hear some of what we've got cooking up. Honestly, everybody on the team are going above and beyond, and pushing past their past capabilities. Same goes for sound effects - though we still have to gain some momentum on that front. I'll be having a meeting with the sound designer on Wednesday to discuss details.

EXHIBITION:

The plans for the release exhibition have been solidifying, and at this point it is certain that it will happen one way or another. The aim is to have it shown in both Copenhagen and Viborg. On top of that, we've been getting a bit ambitious in our funding application and have included budget for an full art book to be designed and printed. Now, whether or not we can get this through is up in the air, but either way, I am making preparations. If we don't get the funds, I think I may release a digital version, but let's take one thing at a time. It would be so cool to have it printed!!

ANNECY

In just about a week, I am going to the annual animation festival in Annecy. I haven't been there since covid hit, so I am really looking forward to be back. And this time around I am going together with the company to pitch Tales of Zale around! It won't be at any of the official events, but rather one-on-one pitching to relevant contacts. I imagine that this will mainly be to raise awareness of the project, but you never know how things will go down. Fingers crossed we meet some nice people!

Because of the festival, I also decided to make a new website. It's very simple, but I think that's for the better right now.

TV SERIES:

Not too much news on the TV-series front, since we'll be starting on that development and trailer production right after returning from Annecy. I'm REALLY looking forward to it though!

ROUND-UP:

So right now all I've gotta do is prepare a 100+ pages art book, exhibition, continue polishing EP 3 and direct audio production, possibly prep some merch, get ready for time-sensitive TV-series development, (somebody asked me to do some online animation/drawing courses too, but let's see), and prepare pitches for Annecy and beyond. Easy peasy, lemon sqeezy, right? Well, it's not impossible to do if I just take on step at a time... so I think I'll do just that!

All the best till next time,

- Sif

Comments

It'll be busy for sure, but in a nice way. And yes! The whole idea is to get the process of animation out to more people, so it'd have to be :D

Sif

Well if that's all you have to do this month... wow that sounds busy! Is the exhibition going to be a public event?

Robbie (Blinkey)

Aww yeah that's a shame! But I get it, it's for sure not all years where it's worth attending. Perhaps another time. And thanks!!

Sif

Thank you Gerry! And thanks for the support!!

Sif

I haven't felt sad about missing Annecy 2022 until reading this haha! Good luck and have a lovely time!

Lynxspots

Very interesting stuff you've got planned. I wish you the best of luck with your pitch at Annecy. This series project is looking rather neat. Keep up the good work!
